Why a playlist for piano day 2024 built in this way? I see time as continuous...Joe Zawinul in an interview declared that there is no past time or present or future but one time... as a single thing! So let's all still be here and music is a means by which we won't disappear...That's why in this Playlist together with musicians and friends of the present there are also some Greats of the past who are building the soundtrack of my life.
I don't rule out continuing to enrich this playlist precisely because of its absence of temporal boundaries: today it is this... tomorrow it will change!

each piece of music I record has a purpose, a reason for existing. When I try to record a new piece and there is no story behind it, it comes out flat. When there is a reason behind it the emotion is released. One area of my life is painful and hard to overcome is caused by my family. Family is supposed to love you and care if you are dead or alive. I don't thInk mine does. But whatever their reason is, that reason is based on a period of time we can't undo - and it is just a shot of time. Each of us goes through many phases and we change with every one. who we were as children - our education and relationships _ and our roles as parent, grandparents, and much more. we change constantly. If you don't try to know and understand the people you are connected to, you miss a lot. 

I am making a video to go with this. The title - Lest we Forget - will be filled with photographs of the childhood I shared with my sisters. I think it is important that we don't throw away parts of our lives because of whatever grudge they hold against me. That I do not understand. I have to learn to let this go, so this is my last attempt to communicate with them using part me that matters. It has taken my entire life too become who I am now. Who are they? They can throw this in the trash if they want, but at least I tried.

The lyrics composer, Johnny Mercer, wanted to write about his home in the south of the USA where he lived by the water. Moon River looks to the future and the past simultaneously. The river represents time and the journey from start to finish.. the journey of life. 

commemorates Audrey Hepburn’s passing 20 Jan 1993.
This poem was read at her funeral.

The Deep Woods

The composition was inspired by the poem "Crossing the Water" by the American poet Sylvia Plath (1932-1963).

Crossing the Water

Black lake, black boat, two black, cut-paper people.
Where do the black trees go that drink here?
Their shadows must cover Canada.

A little light is filtering from the water flowers.
Their leaves do not wish us to hurry:
They are round and flat and full of dark advice.

Cold worlds shake from the oar.
The spirit of blackness is in us, it is in the fishes.
A snag is lifting a valedictory, pale hand;

Stars open among the lilies.
Are you not blinded by such expressionless sirens?
This is the silence of astounded souls.

Crossing the Water

Silent is an emotional piece with great dynamics. Don't tell anyone about it, because it has to stay secret.....

The breath of Humanity ( Piano Day 2024)

Remembering for me is like climbing up and down a staircase: memories await you at every step, beautiful and sad, pleasant and terrible, like life. 
As you go up or down the staircase you sometimes slow down and linger sometimes you run to reach a good memory or to escape from an unpleasant memory.

This is a  spontaneous composition  for the Piano Soundboard's "No Chord Challenge."   A piece of music had to be composed  in which no 2 notes are played together (i.e. No chords or intervals). This included left hand notes and their relation to right hand notes. 

I decided to compose a piece of music for the left hand only.
