125 - Havin' It In Ibiza II mixed by Alex P & Brandon Block (1995)

Following Marshall's sublime set was one of New Yorks original House Movement DJ's & Producers, Mr Victor Simonelli. He tore the terrace a new a-hole with selection of his trademark New York jackin' house beats and stone cold classics that were put together effortlessly. I found the mic recording that I thought I had lost so you can hear the crowd going off in the background!! 

We enjoyed Victor's set so much that we have booked him to play our End of Summer Day & Night Terrace Party on Saturday 26th August 2017.

So get this on and relive what was one of the best sets we've heard on the terrace....x

Thanks Fac It’s Friday : In the third of the weekly series, here with a mix dusted off and delivered from the Summer of 1991, rumoured to be a recording of a set by Dave Haslam,  who played at The Hacienda over 450 times and played the final night of the original Fac 51 on June 28th 1997. Here with a heady set of tough club garage, Italian pianos and choice hip hop slices. Dave brings his “Sweet Sensation” concept to the next Manchester Hacienda gig, the August Bank Special at Sankeys, Friday 27th August with Todd Terry, Graeme Park, DJ Woody and Rowetta (Live PA). Fac 51 The Hacienda.

All these tunes were played by Sasha during such sets from Lakota in '92 and '94 (both amazing nights) and Universe in '92 (where his set is still one of the best I've heard, with Joe Peng MC'ing). 

I originally made this mix just using house music, but it never really felt complete, so I added some more progressive house tunes for the final 30 minutes. These still sound so good, even 26 or so years on, and served to finish off the story in suitable fashion.

This was mixed entirely using 12" vinyl and 1210's, I hope you enjoy.....

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music.
