Livity’s obsession with reggae music began when he moved to Dunedin to begin a Fine Arts degree. He started attending reggae dancehall nights at Bath Street, saying ‘I was that annoying kid asking the DJs for track names’.

Soon after this his vinyl addiction began. He was invited by General Dread from Renegade Sound System to present a show on Radio One. Not long after he started playing at Bath Street’s weekly reggae nights.

In 2006 Livity supported Luciano and met Messenjah from Reality Chant Productions backstage, the day before moving back to Christchurch. This lead to joining Messenjah and Nazarite on the Dubwize show on a regular basis and doing gigs as a crew. He has now been running the show solo for 6 years.

He is a regular fixture on Bass Factory and Chief Remedy Sound Systems, has supported many internationals and played countless festivals and local gigs.

Livity loves all reggae from militant Rasta roots to the slackest dancehall.

He says, 'I wanted to create a mix that reflects the diversity of reggae music that I love. I find mixtapes hard as there are so many songs I want to squeeze in, so I used tunes that I've played in recent DJ sets and tried to create something with flow while ripping through some different styles. Respect to all crew nationwide pushing the sound in their own ways, I hope you enjoy the mix'.

Of course, Dubblestandart have been keeping a version of the dub flame alive for the last two decades. Formed in 1988 as a reaction to the stagnant Austrian pop scene, the group was heavily inspired by the Black Ark, On-U Sound and Jah Shaka, infusing such dub influences within their heady blend of hardcore reggae and new wave, which soon brought them into the European public’s consciousness and as a kind of  „European“ version of the famous DUB SYNDICATE.  Soon, they were so in demand as to be backing Lee Scratch Perry, dub poet Lilian Allen, Dillinger, Ari Up, Ken Boothe, Marcia Griffiths, Chezere and orthers. 

Well,  Austria´s / Viennas´s finest moments in dub working and collaborating with the new technological dimension of modern dub : Paolo Baldini from Italy. 
Baldini´s stunning excursion into deep dub, chilling dub and dubble-tough dub will reach the DubFiles into perfection @ DUB ME CRAZY. 
	Paolo Baldini’s handling of this mission has been exemplary: his production and remixing skills are pleasingly individualistic, retaining plenty of originality and professionalism without seeming stoic, dull or contrived. His collaborations with Mellow Mood, Hempress Sativa, Dub Fx and others are showing faith of what DUB is living for. Since 2007 Paolo Baldini works under the top level name „Alambic Conspiracy“ and became world class dub extraordinary performer, bass player, mixologist, producer and provocateur...!

The Shady Lady AKA Carrie has been rocking dancefloors and airwaves all over Aotearoa since 2003, with her fresh blend of skank-based selections ranging from deep old Jamaican dubs through to rocksteady, tropical bass, dancehall, bouncy hip-hop and digital skank. Always keeping to the bass culture tip of things. 

Favouring outdoor parties with heavyweight speaker stacks, Carrie knows how to read a floor, mash up a sound and doesn’t shy away from dropping a few crowd-pleasers along the way.

Carrie says,‘Women are so underrepresented in the New Zealand music, festival, DJ and reggae scenes. We've got to keep pushing for equal representation in line-ups and actively create more opportunities for women to play their styles out there. So all the lil future DJ gyal dem can see us paving the way.’

SPIRITUALLY GROWN

Spiritually Grown (2020) is the first solo LP by Jamaican Reggae singer Mowty Mahlyka. This work has been composed, produced and edited by the record label Cool Up Records. The vinyl consists of 5 songs on the side A and their respective riddims and dub versions on the side B, the digital release doesn't include the dub versions. Spiritually Grown is a work that was recorded between the years 2016 and 2019, but it is in 2020 when it sees the light in physical and digital format.
In this first LP of Mowty Mahlyka we will be able to enjoy 5 tracks of Digital Reggae and Rub a dub with a lot of energy in the voice and lyrics of the artist. With songs of different themes in which we can enjoy his incredible baritone voice. Undoubtedly, we are facing a very different work to the singles and projects in which Mowty has participated so far.
The visual art has been made by another member of the music label, Mr John Vanilla. Adding his unique style to this project, inspired by comics and animation series.

Mowty Mahlyka & Cool Up Records - War

Up Cut Sound plays the best in new Dub and Digital Reggae. With a lot of respect going to the UK and European producers and artistes. 
    I had an absolute blast making this mix for the Outlook festival competition. It was a great opportunity to put together what I think is the best new riddims and versions in the reggae world today. In this live /one take recording Up Cut plays a heavy dose of Roots and Culture blended along with a party rocking backbeat. You can tell by the selection that I showcase a lot from; Tuff Scout, Conscious Sounds, MAFFI, Jahtari, and Scotch Bonnet. 
     This mix was recorded live with; two Technics 1200, Rane TTM 56 mixer and a Boss SP 303 sampler. (all samples were recorded from vinyl or live dubplate recordings)
