"This mix is all about that 160bpm+ energy that first inspired me to make music. Around 1996 — to me at least, with the advantages of teenage naïvety — it seemed like electronic music had burst into a whole new tempo range, where there were no rules and anything was possible - as long as it BELTS (which is still true). If you go beyond 200 BPM, you reach that zone where 16th notes start to dissolve into 32nds and your brain latches onto a whole new outer layer of rhythm, like a fractal or temporal shepard tone. Essential Mix 2000

Had to put another one up from this party as it's equally as good as the Stingray set but for obviously very different reasons.

I don't think Answer Code Request had played in London prior to this party but already had a residency at Berghain and a number of releases on Dettman's MDR and his own self entitled label as well as an excellent LP on Osgut Ton so was more than on the rise at this point.

It's another hypnotically driven techno set but really unique to what was being heard around the time, Patrick definitely had his own carefully curated sound and the Corsica crowd lapped it up during his headline set on the night.

Where to start with @ancient-methods . . . .

I remember back in 2007 after a trip to Hardwax I came back with several coloured 12's with not a great deal on them bar Ancient Methods and 1st, 2nd & 3rd Method on the labels. Upon listening I was immediately hooked and thought at the time this was the most exciting music I had heard coming out of Berlin for quite a while. Fast forward 2 years and the duo (as they were at the time) were on their way to London to play at our 3rd birthday with a load of other Hardwax related artists. Unfortunately they never got to play that set as a couple of nasty chancer thieves literally stole their laptops off the stage before they performed, never to be seen again. The worst thing about this situation was the fact that they both backed up to each other's laptops for their productions which meant a lot of unreleased WIP music was forever lost that morning. 

Needless to say we felt awful but made it as right as we could by giving the profit we made on the night straight to them (along with their fee of course) and Corsica also chipped in a sizeable donation so they were immediately able to buy replacement laptops but it still wrangles me to this day all that lost AM material.

It was however the start of a very long standing relationship between AM & Plex. Michael (bar residents) was the artist that played the most times at our parties  over the years and it became pretty much an annual tradition from our 5th birthday onwards that you would get an Ancient Methods live, dj or hybrid show. He remains a great friend of ours to this day so it's fantastic to finally get one of his sets from Plex out there.

This set is from our 9th birthday and is a really special 90 min journey. Hope you guys like.

For this month's Tempaural, invites IDA for a guest mix! ✨

IDA is a Finnish DJ, Producer, and owner of the label Sävy Records based in Berlin, Germany.

Ida's vibrant sets are informed by her deep love of old school techno, breaks and electro, with a modern edge that effortlessly transcends categorisation. With a style that's distinctly her own, but still retaining an irresistible, classic rave energy, her versatile and charismatic performances are as at home in the most intimate clubs as they are on big festival stages.

From Helsinki via Glasgow and Berlin, Ida first made an impact with her renowned Acid Flash parties, which found a home at Glasgow's legendary Sub Club. Since then she's played notable clubs across Berlin including Tresor, ELSE, Wilde Renate and Revier Sudost, as well as famed UK venues Fold, Warehouse Project, HopeWorks and Motion Bristol. From her own UK Boiler Room tour, and playing B2Bs with revered DJs like Daniel Avery in locations including a secret car park in Paris, to lighting up the stage at Stihia Festival in Uzbekistan, Ida has indisputably marked herself as an artist on the rise. A resident on Berlin's Refuge radio, she's also currently working on her debut EP to be released on her own label Sävy Records, where she has previously hosted releases from artists including Ryan James Ford, Poly Chain, Slacker and Tracing Xircles.

About Tresor Berlin
At midnight, on March 13th 1991, a basement door opened at Leipziger Strasse 126, Berlin. Through this door, many passed, on their way to defining new terrains in electronic music. There they found a dance floor in the vaults of a closed-down department store, with a unique sound bound to dense fog, building night after night a history that was also a vision of the future.

This history has seen in Jeff Mills’ first sets on three turntables, Underground Resistance's first live appearances in Europe, grandiose Tresor Park parties, to various chapters of the Loveparade with Sven Väth in the 90s and since then countless generation-spanning parties. These moments represent the highlights of infinite personal clubbing experiences. It is the manifestation of the Berlin spirit, emerging from its considerable strife. This history is not without its complications - from temporary closure by the authorities and several raids in the early years to closure and demolition of the old location in 2005. What followed was years of wandering in exile and, finally, resurrection in the new home in Kraftwerk Berlin.

These stories, conversations and shared experiences within our walls forge a resilience that drives towards a shared ideal, the Tresor sound: community, resistance, and the world to come. This was observed in the newly re-unified German youth, who danced and celebrated together from the club’s inception, and into the present day through ongoing community work in Detroit.

To those that have danced before, and to those that will dance in the future: the light at the end of the long Tresor tunnel is a signal. A flicker amidst the fog. This is our future. This is our place.

James Shinra is a well-respected figure in the European electronic music scene, known for his intricate blend of electro, braindance, breakbeat and acid. Gaining recognition with his 2015 Ball & Chain EP on Null+Void and a follow-up remix and solo release on Bicep’s Feel My Bicep label, he went on to release acclaimed EPs and his debut album Vital Heat across key imprints like Analogical Force, Craigie Knowes and 20/20 Vision. Recent years have seen a return to club-ready sounds, with standout releases on We’re Going Deep and the launch of his own imprint Shinra Electro Company, earning DJ support from Bicep at Coachella. His second album Meteorites dropped in 2025, and he continues to perform dynamic DJ and live sets across Europe, with past highlights including Houghton Festival and Warehouse Project.
