Slam release a new EP hot on the heels of their new Archive Edits Series, one that sees the Glaswegian duo focusing firmly on raw, dance floor Techno with fast paced  intelligently programmed audio assaults. 

Title track Synchro features a remix from Autonomous, a snapping 808 electro workout with slick robotic beats and synths to create a melancholic vibe. The original of Synchro quickly follows like a knockout blow with a thundering pace. Static shock synth hooks drive a steady and unyielding 909 beat. Trilinear brings a bit more depth but still retains ferocity. Resonating and pulsing synths create the tension with propulsive percussion constructing the energy. Destrakt continues the high energy tone set by the rest of the EP, producing an intense workout.

Colour and Pitch Sessions with Sumsuch - August 2018

Nicetrax 006 sees the label return with another 12"  that features Danny Ward (Moodymanc) under his 'Dubble D' monniker, Jcub and deep house maestro Tony Lionni for an EP of deep and jazzy House music.
 The release kicks off with 'Evans Above'; a lush mid tempo groove of organic drums and percussion builds and starts to drive with a live double bass to a crescendo which sees a breakdown of big and dramatic uplifting strings. The groove settles and builds further to a sparse but heartfelt double bass solo which plucks on the heart strings as much as those of the instrument before revisiting the string theme. Think sunsets, beaches and warmth!
 The Evans Above 'Club Dub' takes the tempo and energy up to later night territory whilst retaining the organic, warm and uplifting elements!
 Next up is a re-visit to JCub's 'Mestizo' which featured on Nicetrax 002 "Soulfuric Acid EP" for which Mule and Ostgut Ton artist Tony Lionni takes the controls. A deep, pad driven backdrop of warm jazzy chords and swinging percussion is interwoven with beautiful improvised trumpet lines played by Malcom Strachen (Haggis Horns, Corrine Bailey Ray, Mark Ronson and more!) which give way to analogue synth lines before re-joining to build the heat. Another fantastic end of summer piece of dance floor action!

We are very excited to present you this new signing and debut EP by Dampé. A studio and live project from South East London. Since moving to the city, Dampé has been intimately involved in its club culture – from running warehouse spaces and booking venues to DJing and performing in groups across the city and Europe, under a slew of different aliases.

The music is made on a boat on the Thames and is a combination of dusty analogue gear, live instrumentation, and samples. For Dampé, influential parties were “Co-Op, FWD>>” and “You're A Melody” and echoes of those dances can almost be felt in the sound. Across five original tracks, the EP explores weirder and worldlier ends of house music, all with a nod to undeniably UK sounds.

“Peach Shuffle” is a made-for-the-floor, broken beat work-out that has this great warped and chopped Persian vocal sample giving the track a unique and world-wide touch, followed by “St James’ Road”, a crunchy live Rhodes jam and ode to a favourite street south of the river. “Move Me” is all garage-infused vocal loops and singing bowls and acts as an experiment-come-DJ tool. “Carn” is a super-swung hip hop beat featuring “SMBD” aka “Simbad” providing additional keys. Closing out with “Zongo Junction, At Night”, a late night roller with material pieced together from saturated CR 78 samples and field recordings made when Dampé was recording sound for a film about witchcraft and the internet across rural Ghana.

To round up this exciting EP we ask a fellow SE London enthusiast “Nebraska” to make a remix of the title track “Peach Shuffle”. Cutting up the vocal of the original, adding some mean bass and pouring a smooth “dance floor” sauce over it. The delicious end result is something we are very proud off and we hope you will enjoy as much as we do!

Danny Ward is something of a UK underground legend. Recording over the years under a series of aliases he is best know for his Dubble D and Moodymanc personas. He has just released a brand new EP on his own Well Cut Label which really caught our attention. 

We caught up with Danny to discus his latest release, his aliases, his home town Manchester and his career to date. He also recorded this brilliant mix for us featuring only his own productions which really give a full flavour of the eclecticism of Danny as an artist.
