More remixes from the acclaimed "Deeply Rooted" album by Nottingham's finest exponent of reggae and dancehall, Origin One. Picking up where Volume 1 left off, here we find more previously unreleased reworks of tracks from the album that first found support from the likes of David Rodigan, Don Letts, Toddla T, Steve Lamaqc and many more.

Kicking things off is Robot Riddims computerised soca working of "World Peace" featuring Russian reggae don Tenor Youthman. Fellow Notts producers MNTX get to grips with Soom T on "Jah Jah" offering a lighter reflection of Danny T & Tradesman's reworking found on Volume 1. Next, Rukus go deep on "High Grade" with K.O.G. on vocals whilst Congi go even deeper on the instrumental "Dread & Buried" taking the track into unchartered dub depths.

LXNDLXRD flexes his 2 step garage meets grime remix of "Gyal A Wine Up", chopping up XL Mad's vocals, then we find Metalheadz very own Zero T, giving the anthemic "Tribute" his trademark sparse-yet-full production stamp. More drum & bass comes with Born On Road's Kelvin 373 and Selecta J-Man going heavy on the classic "High Grade" again, finishing off with T-Kay's lively rerub of Gardna & Nanci Correia's "Nice & Easy".

Most definitely a little of something for everybody!

I Like Your Style (Jinx In Dub remix) - Turntable Dubbers & Sebski ft Top Cat

Bristol's Riddim Punks return with one of the most popular singles from their debut album of the same name - "London's Burning". Big raucous peak time drum & bass underpinned with a smouldering catchy hook from JA's own King Ali Baba. The original has been burning up dancefloors since its release, but up steps "London city warlord" Riko Dan to add his lyrical fire to this new version. Blazing the track with his trademark grab-you-by-the-throat bars, his lyrics spark the fuse for an all out assault and echo the sentiment of much of the nation right now with a scorching take down of politicians and their lies.

As if that wasn't large enough, D&B don dada T>I delivers a stunning remix, stripping the track back to its bare bones whist upping the aggression with some hard hitting heat. Already road tested at festivals all summer and played upfront by DJs such as Andy C, Bryan Gee, DJ Marky, Break & DLR, this one should incinerate any soundsystem to the floor.

Hot off the heels of the original, supported on BBC Radio 1Xtra by David Rodigan and others, Manchester's Dub Smugglers unleash a massive DnB remix of their most recent track featuring veteran Jamaican dancehall MC Burro Banton.

Born On Road affiliate and rising star DJ Gaw steps up and rips the tracks to bits, putting it back together with a rolling jump up bassline which has already been tearing up clubs and festivals. Gun fingers at the ready, this one's massive!

When it comes to jungle and drum & bass, you don't really get much more influential than Ragga Twins. Since their beginnings on reggae soundsystems in the 80s to embracing rave music in the 90s, their mark on modern music is undeniable as they continue to light up stages and win armies of fans around the world. Their album "Reggae Owes Me Money" is a touchstone for many people, being one of the first to meld ragga lyrics with roughneck breakbeats. They've since worked with hundreds of producers across many different genres, but now is the time to unleash some new music of their own.

Taken from a forthcoming new album (their first in 28 years!) "Too Much Madness" is an explosive dancefloor assault on the senses, matching blistering jungle with a lyrical attack on the current state of affairs in politics and state propaganda as the veteran MCs spit pure fire, taking no hostages as they cement their reputation as still being the sharpest mic men on the scene. Too Much Madness - Ragga Twins

Another selection of massive Drum & Bass and Jungle bangers from the NICE UP! stable. Although maybe not primarily known as a DnB imprint, since it's inception NICE UP! has strived to represent all flavours of modern dance music that has somehow or somewhere been influenced by the rich musical output of Jamaica and reggae music. The bass, the skank, the energy and vibe is no more prevalent than in jungle and drum & bass. From the early and rudimentary mid 90s cuts speeding up and sampling roots reggae and dancehall, to the more current crop of artists working directly with Jamaican artists, the connection is clear and ever present.

For this 2nd volume we find recent big smashes from the likes of Riddim Punks, Think Tonk, Origin One and Dub Smugglers remixed by producers including T>I, Zero T Gray and DJ Gaw amongst many others. With vocals from artists such as Eva Lazarus, Burro Banton, Exco Levi, Riko Dan, MC Spyda, Ragga Twins, Seanie T and Parly B you know the vibes are nice on the mic. Also included is an exclusive and previously unreleased Kutz remix of "Heavy Sound System" by Riddim Punks featuring the UK's finest Eva Lazarus. Having done the rounds on dubplate for a couple of years we thought it time to let it out.

NICE UP! presents Drum & Bass Vol 2 - mixed by Shepdog

Having first emerged as Rukus back in 2017, both Nico and Jon have been embroiled in the music scene for decades in various different forms. Natives of Bristol, the pair have a deep and long-standing love of dance music in all of its forms, such is the wide reaching arms of the city - embracing all within its rich musical history. From radio shows to promoting parties, from festivals to clubs and all point between, their teenage years spent in the 80s and 90s has left an indelible mark on their influences - a lot of which can be found on this, their debut album.


Born out of the roots of soundsystem culture, the early 90s boom of rave music and free parties soon found its way into their ears via mixtapes and pirate stations, then ultimately clubs. The deep cavernous basslines and frantic sped up breakbeats of hardcore drew instant influence and often direct samples from the 70s and 80s reggae, dub and dancehall emanating from Jamaica - just a quick look at some of the biggest tunes of that time can find the roots of soundsystem running deep in the rave - SL2 "Way In My Brain", Meat Beat Manifesto "Radio Babylon" and Lennie De Ice's anthemic "We Are IE". Finding themselves drawn to the original elements, Rukus soon developed a deeper love of dancehall and bashment, retaining that raw energy but moving closer to the source. Retracing their steps, the duo have created an album that not only shows the link between Jamaican music and the UK, but gives tribute to the many legendary tracks that were born out of it.

Parallels is about reverse engineering some of their favourite rave and jungle tunes, extracting the DNA and mutating it to develop something new - taking the rave back to the dancehall. Wearing their influences proudly on their sleeves you should be able to recognise some of the most loved classics such as Adam F's "Circles" and Dance Conspiracy's "Dub War" replayed in a new setting, but there's also some lesser known, but just as loved gems in there.

Adding vocals was a big part of the plan, once again the pair wanted to find MCs and vocalists that echoed the same symbiotic vibe. First up, Jamaica's Shanique Marie (who is known for her work with Equiknoxx) teams up with London's Trigganom for "Ride Or Die", opening the album with scorching intent. Elsewhere up and coming JA superstar Blvk H3ro blesses "Venomous" alongside Bristolian veteran Buggsy. Grime was never too far from the conversation, so up steps Roll Deep legend Killa P for an intense vocal on "Fallen" and Italian bashment don XL Mad on "Darkness". Another Equiknoxx cohort Kemikal crops up on "We Real", his lively chat riding the beat perfectly. On other tracks they've let the music do the talking, letting the genius of the original compositions shine through, but giving them that Rukus tweak.

In short, Parallels is a love letter to rave, skewed through a dancehall lens - giving a knowing nod to the past, but with it's eye firmly on the future.

Ride Or Die - Rukus ft. Shanique Marie & Trigganom

The legendary Ragga Twins return with another banger on NICE UP! as they warm things up for their new album coming in 2025! Linking up with a wide selection of bonafide giants of the jungle, dancehall and reggae scene for the album, this track features the voice of the inimitable and sadly late, great MC Fats - one of the true voices of jungle and soundsystem music.

Riding a mid-tempo breakbeat roller, the Twins combine to shout their love of the scene they are widely regarded as starting, whilst Fats supplies his trademark silky soulful vibes on the hook - giving those well known feel good vibes. Watch out for remixes coming very soon!

We Are Junglists - Ragga Twins ft MC Fats

Following the drop of the original featuring the voice of the legendary MC Fats, we follow up with an absolutely massive remix ramping the track up to junglist levels. What is thought to be one of DJ Randall's final remixes before his untimely and very sad passing last year, his link up with old sparring partner Cool Hand Flex hits hard like an old school junglists dream - uplifting pianos, heavy ragga chat and deep rolling bass. Too hot to handle!

Following the Randall & Cool Hand Luke remix of this banger was never going to be easy, but new school rave hero Borai comes to the rescue.

Known for his huge club smashing and chart topping "Make Me" alongside Club Glow aficionado Denham Audio, the Bristol native steps up with something that gives more than a tip of its cap to the old school, but remains firmly in the new. Big bashing breakbeats, pulsing rave stabs and soaring pianos could make you think its 92 all over again, but this is strictly for the '25!

We Are Junglists (Borai remix) - Ragga Twins ft MC Fats

Calling all junglists! Origin One returns with another dancefloor weapon alongside Yorkshire's Raggamuffin No1 Parly B. "Jungle Bangarang" sets the stage for his much-anticipated 2nd album album with a heartfelt tribute to the history and legends of the jungle scene, celebrating the sounds and influences that shaped Origin One's & Parly's artistry. The anthemic lyrics weave a narrative that nods to past collaborations, friendships, and inspirations from the jungle and reggae scenes throughout the years. Each line carries an essence of respect for the artists and pioneers who've left their mark on the genre, whether through shared stages, studio sessions, or shared admiration over the years.


Deep, sub-heavy basslines and rolling breaks echo the energy of 90s jungle, while ethereal pads and razor sharp production bring it firmly into the present. Parly B's commanding delivery ties it all together, celebrating the scene's roots while keeping the dancefloor firmly in mind. The forthcoming album continues this theme, blending snapshots of dub and reggae with the raw energy of jungle's golden era, offering a sonic reflection of Origin One's influences and creative growth over the past two years.

Manchester's Dub Smugglers return with another soundsystem scorcher, linking up with UK legend Top Cat for "The Youth". A dubwise bass heavy riddim provides the perfect foundation for Top Cat to run lyrics in his trademark style and pattern, giving a rousing lesson for the kids of today. Taken from their forthcoming album "Earn Your Stripes" its a perfect distillation of the Dub Smugglers sound.

Remixes come from fellow Manchester donny Chimpo who flips the tempo to an all out junglist stormer, already causing some mischief as a dub for the last few months. Head of Hull's Dub Junction label Simma also steps up to deliver a heavy hip hop reggae hybrid, complete with a dub version to take things deeper.

Making their welcome debut on NICE UP! they link up with dancehall queen Jodian Natty who flexes her lyrical prowess on the banging "Turn It". Known for recent bangers with Potential Badboy and Crate Classics as well as a firing appearance on viral sensation DJ AG's channel - her appeal to the underground and overground is bubbling quickly!

Deep Mob are deeply rooted in the spirit of soundsystem culture serving up a heavy mix of speaker rattling UKG, rave and big basslines with sweet songwriting and a whole cast of killer vocalists. This is a new project coming from two producers immersed in UK bass, dubstep, garage and jungle. Together they have played raves and festivals across the world including Glastonbury, Boomtown, Bestival, Burning Man and many more.

Their debut with vocalist Steph West whose current single is getting rinsed on 1Xtra and dancehall specialist Parly B (Mungo's Hifi/Hospital) is a tribute to 90s Garage culture and is already picking up support on Capital, Rinse and beyond. Without a doubt one of the most iconic and legendary reggae labels to come out of the UK, Fashion Records has a rich and deep history that reaches far beyond the world of reggae. The brainchild of John MacGillivray and Chris Lane, two music devotees who manned a market stall in Clapham Junction selling imported reggae and ska vinyl during the late 70s (which later went on to become the hugely popular Dub Vendor shop), the label was set up in 1980 and started generating hits instantly, regularly topping the UK reggae charts and attracting attention further afield. Soon a recording studio was built, which served as a drop-in for most of the Jamaican stars passing through London at the time. Horace Andy, Johnnie Clarke, Alton Ellis, Frankie Paul, Junior Delgado and many more household names all spent time in the A-Class studios during the early days, although it was the stars of the new UK reggae explosion that really put the label on the map. Alongside artists such as Dee Sharp, Keith Douglas, Papa Face & Bionic Rhona, the label was a springboard for artist such as Asher Senator, Macka B, Andrew Paul and Smiley Culture, the latter whom scored a top 20 hit and a couple of appearances on Top Of The Pops with his 1984 single "Police Officer". 

Going from strength to strength, it was the chart explosion of dancehall in the early 90s that saw more international names come flocking to the label and more hits racking up - far too many to list here, but a brief glance through the discography shows Cutty Ranks, Papa San, General Levy, Top Cat, Tenor Fly, Daddy Freddy and Wayne Wonder all recording sides for the label. With the subsequent lull of mainstream dancehall hits, it wasn't until another more uniquely English style of dance music came around that the label was rediscovered; jungle. Based around the soundsystem style of Jamaican music, with an emphasis on the cutting drums and heavy basslines, young jungle producers used many of the tracks recorded and played by the previous generation as its backbone, the vocals given new life by the rudimentary samplers being used in bedroom studios all over the land. 

Fast forward 25 years and those reverberations are still being felt today - drum & bass, dubstep, hip hop, trap and almost any other sub-genre of what many now refer to as "bass music" has the DNA of reggae and dancehall running through it, so its only right to expect a little payback at some point. A&R'd by music fanatic and owner of the NICE UP! record label, Jon Sheppard - "Inna NICE UP! Fashion" aims to bring new life to some of these legendary tracks by having modern day producers rework them in their own style and re-introducing them to a new audience. From the frantic breakbeats of rave-revivalist Special Request and the bottom end sonics of Radio 1's Toddla T & Melé, to the modern minimalist dancehall-tech of Machinedrum and the digital dub drone of The Bug, there is plenty to get excited about here. Poland's Radikal Guru serves up some classic dubstep, Germany's Jahtari crew take it back into 80s nostalgia with their 8-bit dancehall style, whilst modern reggae producers Wrongtom, Jstar and Mr Benn all show why they are on the forefront of the UK reggae revival. The tempo gets upped for some heavier jungle inspired remixes from Aries & Gold Dubs, Serial Killaz and festival favourites Dub Pistols, hopefully giving a little bit of something for everybody.

Young Rebel (Aries & Gold Dubs remix) - Johnny Clarke

Hailing from Bristol. the capital of the UK's bass culture movement and a place entrenched with drum & bass heritage, Riddim Punks make a splash with their debut single featuring a link up with Jamaican superstar Chronixx. Sell My Gun was originally released as part of the reggae stars Roots & Chalice mixtape, following the huge hit "Who Knows" alongside fellow reggae revivalist Protoje. Known separately under different pseudonyms, the 2 highly regarded producers soon got to work sampling it and turning it into this edgy DnB/dancehall hybrid. 

Originally sent out to a select few DJs as a VIP, it soon started getting plays on BBC Radio 1xtra from the likes of Toddla T and DJ Target. Demand soon grew as word of the track spread, which is when NICE UP! stepped in to officially license it from Zincfence producer Teflon and a full blessing from Chronixx. Heaving growling bass, hype drum chops and old school jump up vibes pepper the original track, creating what could be the crossover drum & bass hit of the year!

Another One For The Road (Turntable Dubbers remix)

Building on the strength of the already-massive original that has become something of an anthem in dances across the globe, we thought it high time to add a couple of remixes to the pot.

First up, Bristolian jungle dons Selecta J-Man and Kelvin 373 put their Born On Road stamp on it, rolling up the beats to a peak time fat one. Next up, Manchester's Think Tonk prang out and get psychedlic with a twisted bashment style version, tweaking the vocals into the sky. Finally another Bristol connection, the hotly tipped Rukus bring the bass weight to a minimal dancehall refix, mellowing the vibe a little while keeping the sonics lit.

Fire Can't Cease Mixtape - Escape Roots

This lockdown has got everybody feeling a bit isolated, so we've asked some of our artists, producers and friends to put together a mix or selection of tunes to help them and everyone else get through the boredom and restrictions of every day life. 

First up is Nottingham's Origin One, who serves up a rough and tough dubwise selection of reggae and dancehall.
