Here is a song that I just finished and dedicated to my brother Travis Barnes. It is considered our last song together and was composited using some of his old drum tracks from 2008 and the guitar,bass and vocals were recorded just a couple days within his passing. The lyrics deal with some pretty heavy stuff that may be graphic or triggering to some listeners but stands as a warning about the dangers of substance use and addiction and is no way glamorizing it. This is kind of a special song in a different vein than my general brand of sound and it is also dedicated to my younger brother Travis M. Barnes who's life was cut short this past year and I thought I would honor him in the only way I really know how.(1-12-89)•(9-2-23)  I see this as his funeral song to see him off to the next plain of existence. I was moved to record this just 2 days prior to his death so one could imagine how how much deeper it felt when I realized that a higher power must have in a way instructed me to make the song. The dialogue you hear in this tune is an amazing woman and great friend of mine Rev. Lily Frazier whom put together a wonderful memorial service for Trav as he unfortunately didn't get a funeral service. I am releasing a tribute album for my brother with this song and a few others from our days in Astro Nixon.

HELLO THERE MUSIC WORLD:) My name is Nicholas L. Barnes. Im a multi- instrumentalist/solo musician from Bunghole,Indiana. Ive been  recording under the name Nexus Nostalgia for the last few years after my long time band Astro Nixon fizzled out and broke up. Im kind of a washed up product of the 80s,90s and early 00's..which I believe was the last great musical era before music started de-evolving into what the consensus of "popular" music has become these days..I've been inspired by a vast array of influences like: Primus,The Butthole Surfers, Frank Zappa, NiN, Pixies & Breeders, Faith No More, Helmet, The Residents & Snakefinger, St.Vincent!!, Veruca Salt, The Cure , MGMT, M83, Big Black(legendary producer Steve Albini,not the rapper) and too many more to mention on here...All of my music is written,performed and recorded by myself  avoiding as much digital fuckery as I can using only real instruments [with the exception of my drum machine]and as little computer technology I can although the quality could be a bit better but I really just record my music for archiving purposes. I feel music means a lil more nowadays knowing its solely made by a human rather than software or even A.I. doing all the work. Yep all human here and I hope this catches on in the future. I hope to eventually establish a band so I could finally perform my Nexus Nostalgia material onstage as a whole instead of just me alone in the studio...I call it "Musical Masturbation " since im just playing with myself...haha..get it..
