‘404: Beach Not Found (Yet)’ craves for a nostalgic paradisiac adventure, driven by three eccentric robots. C4STRO, Deaf Feet, and Martim Tonic cherish a mechanical toast in honor of the former french funky duo.
The five-track odyssey cranks up the experimentation of various electric guitar chords, weaving basslines and a full bag of decoded sampled grooves. A seductive jam that echoes through the extent of shallow coastal waters and resonates with the sound of both analog and digital sources.

Secretsundaze 18th transmission comes with love from Bristol based artist and newcomer Shanti Celeste. With just a few releases under her belt on the likes of Julio Bashmore's Broadwalk, her own label BRSTL and Idle Hands (the infamous Bristol shop where she also man's the counter a few days a week) she has been quick to impress. She played secretsundaze earlier in 2015 and will play our birthday party in just a few weeks and is a fine DJ with great selection and skills. She recently played back to back with Julio Bashmore on Boiler Room. Her monthly show on NTS Radio has been building nicely so we thought it only right to invite her to do her first 12' for us. This will also be her first release on a non Bristol based label so a coup for secretsundaze we think.

A.1 'Golden' is a hypnotic, bouncy house groove that doesn't stick the regular 90's house template with some great synth action and manages to be both wistful and and bumpin at the same time. 'Nu4him' is a stunning, moody track with lush chords and Shanti's own vocal refrains. 'Golden dub' breaks it down for a more experimental techno excursion eschewing some of the melodic flourishes of its counterpart with heavy kick, 808's and some detroity vibes. Final cut 'Sun' starts off all ambient and atmospheric later picking up the pace with some more stomping electro influences.

secretsundaze has been on a great run of late with Endian's 'Finish Me' featured on the likes on Joy Orbison and Scuba's Radio 1's Essential mixes and 'SS1' on Nick Hoppner's well received Resident Advisor Podcast. Shanti Celeste one of 2015's breakthrough artists continues in that veign with 'Alma.'

"Unless you're a hardened Discogs nerd, Nu Groove may not be a name you're instantly familiar with. Based in New York the imprint only existed from 1988-'92, but for a brief moment in time it was arguably the greatest house label in the world. The output was both prolific and unpredictably wide-ranging, from ravey acid breaks to honeyed US garage. Kenny Dope, Joey Beltram and Joey Negro all put in work for the label but it was two brothers, Rheji and Ronald Burrell, that drove the majority of Nu Groove's output, using their experience as R&B producers to sew a soulful thread into their often remarkably raw deep house tracks. It was, and will always be, a label for the heads, enduring plenty of love from DJs and dance floors but few notable crossover hits.

Old school house fans will probably be recoiling at the thought of a Nu Groove remix compilation: why mess with a great thing? Fortunately, the folks at Needwant have employed Nicholas for the Nu Groove remix project: an Italian producer that, despite his newcomer status, is hugely sensitive to the roots of the label.

Nicholas has been working up a competent discography of house and disco productions for labels such as Lux and On The Prowl. However, it's his live set that indicates best why Needwant have handed over such a weighty project to a relative unknown. Peppered with re-edits of hard to find '90s house and dusty obscurities, they paint Nicholas as a connoisseur of NYC boom-tiss.

It's turned out to be an inspired piece of talent spotting. Nicholas' remixes complement the source material tactfully, retaining much of the vibe that made early house music so appealing. The best thing about these remixes is that they sound old, but manage to do so without sounding dated—a balance that's all too easy to get wrong.

Take his rework of N.Y. House'n Authority "Apt1A," which fuses tiny elements of the original with Kerri Chandler-style keys and meaty bass that could have been ripped straight from a Bobby Konders track. All throughout the album it feels as if Nicholas is grabbing all the best bits from legendary New York house producers and pasting them together. On his version of Houz' Neegroz "How Do You Love a Black Woman?" Nicholas drops the tempo, adds a jacking drum pattern and turns up the volume on the keyboard to create something that manages to feel even more housey than the original. Not bad, considering "How Do You Love a Black Woman?" is a stone cold classic.

The music on Back On Track sounds so authentically rooted in '90s house music that it's tough to believe Nicholas is only in his mid twenties. It's even more tough to believe that he's managed to draw from such a well-known and over-plundered period of music and delivered something that doesn't sound clichéd. It's rare that a remix album of classic tracks ever matches up to the quality of the source material. In this case, Nicholas has gone one step further and surpassed it." 4.5 / 5 - Resident Advisor

Fresh from his recent contribution to the Harvest 001 compilation, label boss Sarayu offers up the fourth entry to his More Rice label, entitled ‘Pridi 303’ – four acidic cuts for the danceoor. His quiet, yet steadfast dedication to the studio is showing clear signs of technical progression as well as beginning to illuminate his own brand of solid
grooves and soaring pad work. Whilst the airline industry remains in turmoil, Sarayu’s productions taxi quickly and land smoothly with minimal turbulence, transporting the listener between the different countries and styles that make up More Rice. Opener, ‘Adventures of a Dream’ brings together a subtly distorted 303 pattern and a twinkling synth riff, set against the backdrop of a thoughtful pad designed to space-out danceoors across Asia. Next up ‘PBIFH’ continues the 303 motif, this time laying it over a supertough, broken kick drum pattern that eventually leads into a twangling arpeggio synth pattern. On the B-side ‘Constant Jam’ is a late-night electro, boom-bap excursion which draws on crafty synth and acid lines to dazzling effect. Rounding off the EP is a peak-time, four-to-the-oor remix of ‘Adventures of a Dream’ from Hong Kong based and coowner of Klasse Recordings Mr Ho, a masterclass in building momentum for maximum danceoor impact.
