Moscoman, Justin Strauss and Max Pask debut their joined Trading Places moniker with a self-titled 4-tracker, featuring vocals by The Golden Filter. Each equally wonderful in its own way, our pick of the bunch is opening track 'Submission'. Setting things in motion for the suspenseful dance floor cut is a dry bassline that vibrates over an acid-flavored synth arrangement. The haunting vocal chords of The Golden Filter's Penelope deploy layers of texture, as the track builds upon percussive spheres towards its frenetic conclusion.

Six months after the first volume, not for profit label Sinchi, which donates all proceeds to support the preservation of indigenous culture, follows up with the second edition of their Altered States compilation.

'Altered States vol.1' was supported by a great cast of DJs, from Andrew Weatherall and Jennifer Cardini to Perel, Horsemeat Disco, Red Axes, Emperor Machine, Ewan Pearson and many others. The latter, who hails from Mexico has already featured on Nein and Wonder Stories and now serves up a scintillating journey through wiry disco synths & cosmic arps that are edgy and futuristic.

Mexican artist Mateo Gonzalez alias Bufi alias Theus Mago kicks off his 2020 vision with a three tracker, 'BAQA', on PETS Recordings and musically continues to deliver dance floor oriented music in the style of his 'Osla' EP, which included the omnipresent and well-received track 'Stadium Flutes'. 'Rave Dave', the B2 or EP's closing track is no exception regarding the aforementioned and is an instant classic. 'Classic' because the sound selection as well as the arrangement take you back to the early nineties of the last decade, to the die-hard rave days, to 'rave Dave', the stereotype of a raver, dancing all weekend but still being fresh on a Monday. 'Rave Dave' stands out due it's lush bass line or a 'thundering drum' combined with echoing ligneous sounding chords still giving the take an industrial vibe thatis emphasized by a mental melodic part in the middle part before the trippy intially introduced chords and a vocal guide the listener through the end of the track and right into a newly approaching musical thunderstorm.
