for SA and piano – Originally published as part of the Songbird collection 'As you sing', this is a thrilling and high-energy piece setting a text by Jennifer Thorp. Young uses body-percussion, sound effects, repeating themes, and strong rhythms to capture the characteristics of a river, creating a fun and dynamic piece.

Once high fidelity sound cards became available for the PC, Nicholas started to explore the application of his "C" programming skills to sound. Nicholas would open a digital file, then write numbers into it based on the evolving science of sound synthesis. A range of people helped to further this work into musical projects, including drummer Mario Cardenas, sax player Charley Krachy, synthesist Neil Alexander and composer James Umland.
