Here's a song for my grandma. She's in the hospital right now and she's not doing so hot. 

Grandma Piper taught me a few key lessons. She taught me to always punch people in the nose if I get in a fight because then their eyes would water and they wouldn't be able to see me. She also taught me how to pick rhubarb and eat it with salt. Also, she slipped me shots at my graduation when my parents weren't looking. I don't know if that was really a lesson--it was just more for fun. She made me a lot of knitted hats, and one with bunny ears and bells on it. Keep her in your thoughts if you don't mind. 

Grandma looked up and smiled one more time before she passed away this morning. Mom said she was moving her hands like she was playing a piano earlier in the day. She always wanted to play piano. Love you and miss you Grams.

Christine Piper passed away this morning around 1 am, looking up and smiling one last time before she closed her eyes. My sister Jessica, her longtime pen pal, wrote one last letter to Grandma just a few moments earlier. 

"You were always the hearth around which your family gathered. And even though your light on this earth is nearly out, your warmth will remain."

An interpretation of Jesus's Christmas. The idea for it came to me the other night, while I was laying in bed--and since my darling lady was asleep, I went to the living room and wrote it down and played it a few times.  My girlfriend says she doesn't understand how Jesus could run down the stairs on his first Christmas. I told her to stay out of it and that she's ruining the song.
