'Love You, Parasocially' is a song about parasocial relationships. A parasocial relationship is a one sided relationship between a fan and a content creator. 

Being one sided, they are often exploited for monetary gain by the creator. On Youtube especially, the creator might talk informally as they would with a friend, have inside jokes, and say how much they care about their fans. The fact is they don't know their fans, and they care about them so far as they make them money. It may not be intentional, and there might not be a great alternative at the moment, but it is important for fans to be aware of this dynamic, and not have their entire social network composed of one sided relationships. Only real two way relationships can provide support during times of need.

Grape-kun is a penguin from a japanese zoo that fell in love with a cardboard cutout of an anime character or "waifu". As he was separated from the cutout, the internet made him famous as people related to the story of unrequited love.
