Herensuge: The Last Breath of Mount Anboto
In the times when the mountains spoke and the rivers sang in Basque, there lived in the depths of Anboto a being of fire and shadow: the Herensuge. It was not just any dragon, but the guardian of ancient secrets, born from the breath of Mari, the goddess of the earth, and the echo of thunder.
For centuries, the Herensuge slept in spirals of lava and dreams, guarding the balance between the worlds. But when men began to forget the sacred words, cut down the forests without asking permission, and silence the songs of the wind, the Herensuge awoke.
Its awakening was not a war, but a test.
Every seven moons, the dragon emerged from the mountain shrouded in red mist, seeking a brave soul who could remember the ancient pact. Many warriors faced it with swords, but all were devoured by its fire. Until Aneko arrived, a young shepherdess who spoke to the animals and wove verses with the stars.
Aneko carried no weapons, but an oak txalaparta and a forgotten song her grandmother had taught her. When the Herensuge saw her, he roared with fury, but Aneko did not tremble. She played the txalaparta and sang:
“I am not your enemy, but your memory.”
The dragon stopped. His eyes, like broken moons, shone with fiery tears. He recognized in Aneko the voice of Mari, the memory of the earth. Instead of devouring her, he bowed before her and gave her a golden scale: a symbol of wisdom, power, and reconciliation.

I've started to publish songs I wrote and recorded years ago, most of which were recorded to make sure I wouldn't forget them. None of them were recorded well and some are riddled with mistakes that I didn't care much about at the time.

I'm publishing now for posterity and because my family and friends might want to listen to them, imperfect as they are. If they touch a few strangers along the way, why, that's more than I could hope for.
