For the 2013 Oberon Theatre Ensemble & SOHO Playhouse Off Broadway production Of The Drawer Boy By Micheal Healey.  Directed by Alexander Dinelaris, winner of the 2015 Oscar for Best Screen Play for "Birdman".  

THE DRAWER BOY will receive its New York debut, helmed by Alexander Dinelaris (Oscar & Golden Globe winning Screenwriter for the 2015 Best Picture "Birdman", Book “The Bodyguard,” “Red Dog Howls;” director “American Rapture,” “The Chaos Theories”), featuring a cast that includes: Alex Fast (“The Awesome 80’s Prom,” “Ivanov”), Brad Fryman (“Order,” “American Rapture”) and William Laney (“True Face,” “Order”).

Design team for THE DRAWER BOY will be Rebecca Lord-Surratt (scenic design), David Murin (costume design), Nick Moore (sound design, Original Composition), and Amith Chandrashaker (lighting design).

Michael Healey is a Canadian playwright and actor. His other plays include “Plan B,” “Rune Arlidge,” and “Generous” for which he was awarded the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Best New Play.

Our aim with the Sonnet Walks was to create a unique, inter-active experience for our audience that re-awakens them to the city they live in and the people around them, as well as presenting Shakespeare’s sonnets in a new light.

The first ever Sonnet Walk NYC took place in Lower Manhattan on Sunday August 19 2007. We hope you were there, but in case you missed it, here is list of the actors that took part, and the sonnets they performed.

"Have you ever had that dream where you were falling?� What if you had that dream while you were wide awake?� When Cassie, a young and dissatisfied New Yorker, awakens in the middle of the night to find her apartment burning down, a Ringmaster with a penchant for physics takes her on a tour of her life to find out if it really is possible to have it all.� Based on Heisenberg's Uncertainly Principle and expanding it to a life-sized theory, this comedy-fantasy is written by 2006 Innovative Theatre Award Nominee Bethany Larsen and is directed by Milk Can Artistic Director Julie Fei-Fan Balzer.� 

The play was workshopped as part of the Milk Can Theatre Company's Scene, Herd, Uddered reading series in 2004 and 2005. The cast features Casey McClellan, Judy Chestnut, Tim Downey, Chris Kloko and Lauren Gleason.

Both shows feature a design team of Carrie Mossman (Scenic Design), Michael Gugliotti (Lighting Design), David Withrow (Costume Design) and Nick Moore (Sound Design/Original Composition).

Monster Literature is an action-packed episodic children's theater series that celebrates great works of literature that kids can read NOW. These 30 minutes adventures follow the continuing adventures of 12-year-old Benjy Bleeglehorn, and her dashing sidekick Bravo Kirkwood, as they attempt to stop the evil wizard Zorlan Morlan from sending his monster armies into great works of literature. With each new adventure, there are new friends to be made, new stories to fixed, and new lessons to be learned!

Production History

Monster Literature was produced by Mainspring Collective from December 2009 through September 2010 at the Brooklyn Lyceum,with additional performances at the Irondale Center as part of the Brooklyn Book Festival and the Children's Museum of Manhattan, directed by Dara Malina and Hilary Krishnan.

Twas the Night Before...MONSTERS!
 Just in time for the holidays! Mainspring Collective and The Brooklyn Lyceum present the first installment of their new children's theater series, Monster Literature, written and conceived by Daniel John Kelley.

The first episode, 'Twas the Night Before...MONSTERS!' offers a new twist on an old classic when an evil wizard threatens to destroy the holiday spirit by changing the poem 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' by unleashing his army of silly monsters. Young heroine Benjy Bleeglehorn (along with her dashing sidekick, Bravo Kirkwood) must battle this army of misguided monsters with their wit and compassion in order to restore the poem and rediscover the spirit of the holidays.

'Twas the Night Before...MONSTERS, featuring original music by Nick Moore, and video elements, is original holiday fun for the whole family. Join us for some monstrous fun at the Brooklyn Lyceum as we kick off this new ongoing series! 

Robin Hood: Prince of...MONSTERS!

There's something funny happening in Sherwood Forest. The evil wizard, Zorlan Morlan has used his magic to turn Robin Hood into a big old scaredy cat, and transform his band of Merry Men into a band of Merry...MONSTERS! It's up to 12 year old Benjy Bleeglehorn and her dashing sidekick, Bravo, to enter the story and turn Robin Hood back into his old self again- by teaching him what it means to be a hero.

 
The Secret Garden...OF MONSTERS!

When bratty orphan Mary Lennox is sent to live with her uncle at Misselthwaite Manor, she has no idea what MONSTROUS adventures lie in store for her! The Evil Sorcerer Zorlan Morlan is up to his old tricks again- this time entering  Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic novel "TheSecret Garden" and turning its heroine- Mary Lennox- into A MONSTER! Only 12-year-old Benjy Bleeglehorn, and her dashing sidekick Bravo, have the power to turn Monster Mary Lennox back into a little girl- by helping her make The Secret Garden come to life!

"Monster Literature" returns to the Children's Museum of Manhattan October 23rd with a brand new episode: "Treasure Island...OF MONSTERS!" 

The Emperor's New...MONSTERS!

When the evil wizard Zorlan Morlan steals  Hans Christian Anderson's classic story “The Emperor's New Clothes”, it's up to Benjy Bleeglehorn and her dashing sidekick Bravo Kirkwood to save the day! But can Benjy do it alone? This time, Zorlan has trapped Bravo inside the story by appealing to his one weakness: his desire to be awesome. Now Bravo is the Emperor, surrounded by new monster "friends" who promise to make him an awesome battle armor that only awesome people can see. It's up to Benjy to show Bravo that there is no battle armor, that the monsters aren't his friends, and that's okay to be who you are, no matter what anyone says!

I am a theatrical, musical theater,  film, and dance composer as well as, sound designer based in New York City for the past 16 years.  I work hard to tell and help tell stories through music and sound.  I write in a variety of genres and styles.  

A little blurb about me: I have been in NYC since 2000. I earned the first degree in composition and music technology from Duquesne University 1995.  After 5 years of teaching, a children's music story telling business, and doing local theater, I moved up here to do the BMI Lehman Engel Musical theater workshop in 2000, and participated in it for 2 year.  After that ended up finding my way in to sound design and have been designing off off and off-bway since then, along with composing 2 full length musicals besides Plagued, a ton of short musicals a few one acts, and a lot of original music for the plays, dance pieces, and a few movies that I have designed and/or done music for, as well as some industrial work.  I was an audio engineer and stage hand at the Public and other off b-way houses for a good while.  Currently I teach a ton of piano, am a master teaching artist at Roundabout Theatre Company, design, and work on crazy musicals that I love.
