On July 12, 2018... I released the first ever episode of Philosophy 101…

3 years later.. here we are…
Philosophy family.. can you believe it?!

I have 3 things to say to all of you; THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! & THANK YOU!!!

There are not enough words to express the copious amounts of gratitude that I have for every single person who has supported from the start... From the team who has helped me transform Philosophy 101 into what it is today.. to anyone who has listened to every episode or just one episode.. and most importantly; the universal gratitude that I have for EVERY.. SINGLE.. House-Head that I've ever had the pleasure of having a conversation with, or just simply having shared a dance floor with you over my 29 years of existence…

Seriously if you were to tell me 3 years ago, that not only will this podcast be listened to on every continent, throughout 75 different countries, & will have generated over 10K listens... Swear on my moms I would have told you; “Pass me whatever it is that you're smoking on because that sounds like some real fire shit & I want some”… 

And thennn... if you were to tell me that 6 months into releasing this podcast series, I would then be presented the opportunity to transform Philosophy 101 into an event series. That would not only take over some of Las Vegas' biggest nightclubs, but would enable me to headline open-close sets playing all different kinds of underground noises…
And thennnnnn.. that would help to facilitate bringing Philosophy 101 back to my hometown of NYC, & most recently assist in being booked to be the headlining artist for a promenade record label’s first 2021 label showcase in Los Angeles representing the Philosophy|CLV moniker...

All the whilst, morphing Philosophy 101 into a DJ Collective consisting of likeminded individuals; some of whom I've known for over a decade... But were chosen not based off of how great their DJ skills are, or how well known they are, or where they have played, or how many people they can put through the door... But rather on the purest fact of; real recognize real…

This music is who I am… This music has been shaping my life ever since I bought my first underground house 12” vinyl nearly 16 years ago…

DJ Pierre aka The Godfather of acid house himself, once said;
"Anything that starts off underground is house.. I don't care how big it gets.. if it started out underground.. then it's house!"

House isn't just a type of music..it's a way of life..it's a culture..it's an ideology..and for those of us who started chasing this rabbit a long long time ago..we haven’t left the rabbit hole since...

This is the first Philosophy episode that I can truly say I left a piece of my soul inside of forever. 

Not only is this mix completely different than how I normally play... 
It is a beautiful, only can happen in the moment, on the fly, type of journey that explores my 3 favorite era's/decades of house...

We starting off with what's closest to my heart.. the 2005-2010 golden era of NYC's tribal that I spent countless hours inside the walls of Pacha NYC, Cielo, & Asseteria listening too… Then rewinding back into the late 90s-early 2000's with that real Sound Factory era type sounds of Johnny Vicious, Jonathan Peters, Robbie Tronco, Sal Parm aka Plasmic Honey, & so on… And finally to round it out by ending off with what started it all; disco classics, original house classics/remixes/edits/reworks, & of course timeless vocals laid over a beautiful 4x4 beat...

I hope you enjoy this 3 hour pilgrimage through the sounds of house as much as I did…

For me personally, this was my first 3 hour set in quiet sometime & everyone in attendance rode the journey with me properly!!!

I started the night off with some very deep tech & minimal vibes, than rose up into proper tribal tech mixed with some appropriate 4/4 - 125 rolling techno, and then finally into an all out tech house onslaught!!

Today; March 9, 2022.. Marks the 25th anniversary of the untimely death of the greatest mc to ever pick up a microphone; The Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls.

For every New Yorker, March 9th, is a bitter sweet day. Not only is it a day to remember the legacy of the late great Christopher Wallace, but it's a day to think on what the world of hip-hop would be like if BIG was still here.

I was 11 years old the first time I heard Ready To Die. I'll never forget my moms running into my room bugging out when the end of BIG's first verse of Gimme The Loot was playing; "Who's crazier than angel dust & how the hell do you even know what that means?!?!" At the time I didn't all I knew was that whoever this guy was, I fucks with.. 

2 years later when I started high school & began DJing I remember spending hours playing, Ready To Die | Life After Death, on repeat until I knew every word to every song. 

Fast forward 17 years later & nothing has changed. Although my focus is & always will be underground dance music; hip-hop was & will always be my first love. This mini-mix is not only my tribute to the greatest lyricist to ever live but a tribute to my roots of DJing..

Episode 21 has finally arrived and I am ecstatic to finally release & share this guest mix with you. This episode takeover is a special mix coming from a fellow 914-New Yorker turned desert dweller. In the recent years he has been taking Arizona & the west coast by storm with not only his DJing, but his productions as well. Oh & I did I mention he happens to be the Owner/Creator/Label-Boss of one of my favorite techno labels Aerotek Recordings?

Ladies & Gentlemen give it up for the Aerotek General himself Rolando Hodar! After launching Aerotek in 2013 Rolando has created a beautiful mantra of inviting people to #AlwaysChooseTechno. Since forging Aerotek he has had industry heavy hitters such as D-Unity, Dkult, Bageera, Joy Fagnani, Alex Young, & Deetech, just to name a few; release massive tracks and EPs on Aerotek Recordings. I don’t see Rolando or Aerotek slowing down anytime soon. Be sure to stay tuned and follow both Rolando & Aerotek on social media/beatport for what are sure to be nothing but more incredible techno releases all throughout 2019.

Built on the streets of New York City, now residing in the party playground known as Las Vegas. Cicero has paved his own path through the underground.

Behind the decks since 2005; Cicero is known for his versatility. Ground zero, the center of his attention; providing every dancefloor he plays for with an intricate journey through sound. From techno-to tribal house-to timeless classics, expect the unexpected.

Always striving to be the opposite of standard. He prides himself on his custom mapped hybrid live Traktor setup, empowering him to experiment on the fly and to create in the moment. He keeps his NYC underground roots alive with rhythmic drums, rolling basslines, and tasteful vocal sampling. 

His music production’s are developed around the concept of intertwining underground dance music with hip-hop style sampling, cinema/tv, and pop-culture. Pushing him to create deep, dark, raw; yet thought provoking, dimensions of techno & house. 

As of today, Cicero has headlined and played numerous events in various cities across the country including; Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Boston, and Connecticut. Most notably, he has been booked as direct support for prominent artists such as; Camelphat, Chus & Ceballos, Lee Foss, and Melissa Nikita.
