Brothers Julien & Raphael Piacentino aka Esoteric Circle, have been making waves with a run of recent productions on labels including Oddity and Eleatics. With a talent and touch for spine-tingling compositions, the French duo have worked their way into the sets, and shared the stages, with some of the finest purveyors of melodic house and techno of today.

Making their debut on Joris Voorn's Spectrum imprint, the brothers serve up a stunning double slice of cosmic finery in 'Moonshard' and 'Oblivion'.

The title track with its cascading synths, sweeping strings and cavernous chords creates a majestic dancefloor moment, while 'Oblivion', as its name suggests, treads a darker path. Tracer-like snares fire, bassline growls, and crater kicks drop from the heavens. All wrapped in an impressively melodic melancholy.

Bucking the trend of modern artists, Hicky & Kalo made their name for carving out a niche in the underground scene as resident DJs at the one of its kind Stereo Club in Montreal, as well as landing releases on some progressive house top labels such as Mango Alley, onedotsixtwo and Replug. And of course by spreading great music trough their own imprint, Plaisir Sonores.

The EP opens with ‘Coming Back Home’, where a dark groove emerges with spiky bass. Lightening the track, pretty arps dance playfully as heavily effected vocal ad libs add depth. One for the late floors waiting for the sun to make its first appearance of the day. 
‘From Sea to Sea’ continues the trend; deep satisfying low end grooves juxtaposed by breezy arps. A muscular, and ultimately danceable floor filler. 
Finally, the pair lay down some ‘Wisdom’(!), a lighter number with tons of character. Ethereal and uplifting, the groove is richly melodic and hypnotic from the off.

As part of Nick Muir’s superlative “All One Word” release, we now include a second EP with a pair of outstanding remixes from UK dance music royalty, Trilucid.

Quickly becoming one of Proton’s top-selling artists, Trilucid have been responsible for a host of 24-carat gold releases. Regulars on the likes of Black Hole, Colorize, and Paul Thomas’ UV, the UK duo have been regulars on Proton Music since a 2019 remix of Stas Drive saw a collaboration with Phil Martyn. Going on to release a quartet of original EPs between 2019 and 2023, “Glint”, “Astral”, “The Loved Are Never Lost” and “A Moment / Stratos” have showcased immaculate production skill and unrivaled talent.

Providing two separate reworkings of “All One Word”, the ‘Midnight Mix’ is a powerful variation that is the perfect companion to Nick Muir’s dance music roots. A grooved bassline and house chords add club-friendly verve while a vocal sample provides a further retro vibe. Making innovative use of the original components, not least in the extended bass sequence with its roots in Muir’s track, the resultant remix is an Ibiza anthem in waiting.

With its deeper, more considered sound, the “2 AM Mix” is thrust forward with a chest-thumping kick and driving a 16th-note bass pattern. Shakers and percussive vitality add further intensity while beautifully orchestrated pads and shimmering arpeggio add emotion and a classy touch. Hitting dancefloor heights with ease, Trilucid once again demonstrates their wide-ranging talent with a beautifully crafted affair that does nothing to diminish a growing reputation.

With the final say, Trilucid hit the mark once again with Nick Muir’s “All One Word”.

DESCRIPTION :

A year ago, I did my opening for Eric Prydz and Franky Wah at the Phantom, Paris.

My one-hour long set was an exclusive one, where I only played my own unreleased music (minus a Cristoph track, ok, haha). So, to celebrate that moment, I decided today to release an EP composed of three tracks, including two from this set.

Called « Assassins EP », this little story is very simple to approach : you downfall in a cave with « Deep ’n’ Dark », you explore it with « Underscapes » and you understand the people living here with « Assassins ».

Deep'n'Dark

Nick has been writing and producing dance music since 1990, notably as John Digweed’s production partner in the Bedrock project but he is well known as a DJ/producer in his own right. He is a multi-instrumentalist but was a professional session pianist before he entered the nascent dance scene of the early 90’s.
