Dem Stück floating debris – das ist kein Zustand liegt die konzeptuelle Auseinandersetzung mit dem Motto der Klangspuren 2021, Transitions, zugrunde. Die Vorstellung der Wirklichkeit als lineare Entwicklung bildet den Kern des abendländischen Logiksystems, und dementsprechend bildet die Vorwärtsbewegung der Zeit die Grundlage unseres Seins: Auf den Zustand A folgt der Zustand B, darauf C und so weiter. Wie aber sonst kann ein Verständnis von Welt aussehen, wenn sogar die Vorstellung vom Zyklus als mutwillige Definition linearer Entwicklungen begriffen werden kann? Ursprünglich geradlinige Abläufe werden zu konzeptionellen Kreisen gebogen. Braucht es vielleicht eine eigene Dimension oder eine andere Denkweise?

The piece floating debris is based on the conceptual examination of the motto of Klangspuren Festival 2021: Transitions. The idea of reality as a linear development forms the core of the occidental logic system, and accordingly the progress of time forms the basis of our being: state A is followed by state B, then C and so on. But what else can an understanding of the world look like if even the idea of the cycle may be conceived as a deliberate definition of linear developments? When originally straight-line processes are bent into conceptual circles? Does it perhaps need an extra dimension or a different way of thinking?

Some time before russian aggressive invasion and the beginning of a full-scale war in Ukraine, me and my fellows from the FREEBUTTREE project were preparing to record an album. This album was intended to be dedicated to the beautiful and unique nature of Ukraine as well as the unbearable state of anticipation of war. Now we only have audio recordings of our rehearsals. One of which I would like to share with you. I want to dedicate it to our peaceful, freedom-loving, strong and indomitable people! Slava Ukraini!

Nick Acorne is a versatile sound artist, who works as composer, sound designer,  interactive media artist and performer. He worked with variety of genres, sound languages and esthetics. Holding a degree in both classical composition, electronic composition and sound design, he combines very often live recorded acoustic musical instruments with computer processed or generated electronic sounds. Over the years Nick developed his own original series of participatory solo performances and different piano concerts (RUBILOVO, Remote Control, BUY, PAY, IX KLA VIER E). 

Working the last years in the field of interactive art he combines his  composer proficiency with programming knowledge and creates together  with colleagues interactive sound installations for museums, galleries and festivals. Nick developed also his own DIY sensor based instrument The Sensor Board, which he uses for live performances of Elektrichka Trio, as well as also for solo concerts. He is a co-founder of Some Designers art collective and Ninja Guru Design Studio.
