Forest Song

Wide Lying Smiles is the debut album by St Albans based rock/folk/pop four-piece Nick and the Sun Machine. It's also the second studio album by established singer/songwriter Nick Stephenson. 

The album consists of 11 new recordings that range from melodic folk rock songs like 'White Chalk' and 'Baby A' to the edgier, more progressive sounds of 'Fast Learner', 'Dream Fly' and 'Winters Blazes'. 

It also contains blistering hard rock in 'Stoned Aching' and intricate folk balladry in 'For Her'. The bands four-part harmonies are all over the record and give the album a sense of unity amongst the various musical styles.

Nick and the Sun Machine hail from St Albans, Hertfordshire, UK and fully formed in April 2012. They share a love of harmonies, funk, soul and folk and collectively draw inspiration from The Beach Boys, Jane's Addiction, Animal Collective, The Fairport Convention, Snarky Puppy and Blur. 
Their songs range from atmospheric, harmony laden folk originals to raucous, progressive rock. Their live shows are dynamic, danceable and emotionally charged with a playful edge.
