Never to be done before we knew we had to choose wisely, and to launch this very special series, we chose 'Anomaly' a radio station dedicated to one goal, creating an audio visual experience to its audience and to present people with a unique and unheard sound. Accompanied with incredible contemporary and electric artwork covers from the talented artist Panthera Krause. OFFBEAT: Anomaly Radio

I had the unique opportunity to record an extended mix for the great people at Flow Music. I decided that the usual 3 hours and 33 minute format wasn’t going to cut it, so the guys kindly allowed me to extend the set by 2 hours. 

In the past few years I’ve noticed that underground music and DJ sets have been drifting back to the beginning of the movement. Now you have producers such as Trance Wax making music that sounds like it could have been made 30 years ago. As well as DJs such as Job Jobse, Âme, Dixon and Solomun playing tracks from all ends of the musical spectrum. As a DJ it’s never been easier to mix a large variety of sounds very cleanly, as there is so much diverse music right at our finger tips. The gap between the techno DJ and the trance DJ is getting a hell of a lot smaller.

So in the spirit of this, the set features deep house, techno, electronica, 90s trance, Afro House and Indie Dance from my favourite producers and record labels.

333 Sessions 049 - Nick Berry

After a year of Covid delays, it was amazing to finally get the chance to play at the very first edition of Break Festival in ACT, Australia. My set was from 9-11pm on the Saturday night. The sound, lights and atmosphere on the night were on another level. For those of you that missed the incredible weekend away, here is the first two hours of the set before my b3b with Harry Hooper and Lockie Patrick - Enjoy x

It was an infatuation with electronic music from a young age that sparked the beginning of Nick Berry’s DJ career in the Sydney scene back in 2014. Since then, Berry has made a name for himself through his acute deviation from what is popular, playing uniquely melodic music punctuated by an eclectic mix of deep house and techno - influenced by the 90’s rave era. Fast forward to present day and Berry has shared lineups with DJ Koze, Jimi Jules, Trikk, The Drifter, Oliver Koletzki, Andhim and Gerd Janson to name a few. During the stagnant year of 2020, he maintained his divergence from the conventional when he founded The Anomaly Radio Show alongside Harry Hooper and Milly Lees. The brand is a cultivation of deep electronic music paired with finely curated graphic design to help listeners navigate through the beautiful obscurities of electronic melodies. Nothing beats the real thing. It’s natural. It’s emotional. It’s visceral. So for our 2nd installment of Anomaly Live, we have co-founder @nickberrry's verbatim set from Sisyphos. Blissful melodies spun with punchy dance tracks both delighted and illuminated revelers as the sun set over the Sisyphos beach stage. Three hours of recorded fantasy; the next best thing to reality.

Words from Nick:

The Anomaly takeover at Sisyphos was nothing short of a dream. The sun was shining, it was 30 degrees and there were upwards of 500 revellers on the dance floor getting lost in the music. After hearing 10 hours of fabulous tunes by Skatman, Panthera Krause, Harry Hooper, it was time for me to take charge from 4pm - 7pm on the Beach stage and boy oh boy was the pressure on. As Panthera and Harry had been serving the crowd with a constant flow of enticing indie dance, house and techno tunes, I thought that perhaps it was time to reset the vibe and get the crowd ready for the one and only David Mayer. The plan was to bring down the tempo for a few tracks and build the crowd’s energy back up again, ever so gradually. This was incredibly nerve racking as I’d never experienced a more up for it and energetic audience. The risk soon turned into a reward, as I was able to take the crowd with me on a 3 hour journey, sharing the sounds that I feel embody the Anomaly experience. I am incredibly thankful to the artists that took part and the venue for giving us the time and space to share our music. Highlights of the set include tracks from Kraftwerk, Fatima Yamaha, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Keinemusik, Alican, Chloe Calliet, Trikk & Frank Weidemann, Ivory, Laolu and more.

In the year of 2018, there were a couple of labels and artists that were really daring to be different and pushing musical boundaries in the melodic techno world. Those labels are Keinemusik, Connected, Solide, Ouie Music and Disco Halal. So here is a mix dedicated to this sound, with the first half focussing on the darker productions and the second half more on the melodies. Circa 2019 Podcast

"Last month, the International Space Station was photographed all the way from Palo Alto, California. Using precise timing, the Earth-orbiting space platform was photographed in front of a partially lit gibbous Moon. The featured image was taken with an exposure time of only 1/667 of a second. To put it in perspective, the duration of the transit of the ISS across the entire Moon was about half a second."

A few weeks ago I was given the unique opportunity to play one of the best weekly parties in Australia and rest assured, it did not dissapoint! Although this legendary event is mostly known for it's minimal techno sounds, for this set I wanted to play music that Sydney doesn't get to hear too often and features tracks from some of my favourite record labels- Innervisions, Discohalal & Keinemusik.  I loved the set so much that I have decided to release it.

I think it’s safe to say that last Saturday was one of my favourite DJ sets to date. Energy was at an all time high. The crowd was receptive. The dance floor was full. Having two hours meant that there was no need to rush. We went deep. Thank you for dancing.
