Throwback 2019 Vinyl Set

Last hour of my set at City Club for Industrial Detroit this past December with The Brvtalist headlining. I played 3 sets in the front room with an impromptu b2b thrown in. They had me play an extra half hour after The Brvtalist ended in the main room and I took the opportunity to take things into a deeper, more psychedelic direction to end the night. Hypnotic vibes for the final shadows swaying in the fog.

Playing after a b2b of Gusto and Mizz Chavez (both of which respectively played the first 2 parties I ever attended in Detroit) and before Duck Trash felt like a full circle moment for me. Kicking the series off, we have local acid techno nerds DJ SPHiNX and Nick Burgess delivering a jacking multi-genre stomper that united even the snobbiest of music chin strokers into a dancefloor frenzy. This mix is an homage to the late-late hours of the night where only the strongest of techno soldiers remain standing. It kicks off with fast and intense sounds before slowly giving away to woozy psychedelia and ending on something a bit lighthearted and cheesy (in the best way) to shut it all down. You can almost envision the sunbeams coming through the cracks in the wall by the end of this ride.
