SIERRA is a fresh track from my upcoming EP, REDWOOD. I've tried to strike a balance between structure and improvisation, adding a dash of jazz-inspired spontaneity, giving it a relaxed, free-flowing vibe that I hope you'll enjoy.

REDWOOD represents a sentimental journey for me. It's a music-infused interpretation of my memories from visits to family in California during my younger years. It's been a while since my last visit to the U.S., and I'm eagerly anticipating my return this October.

This is where it all began. It was a few years back when I started off working as a medical resident. Initially I was excited and hopeful. That sentiment didn't last for long. Soon I was overworked and confronted with responsibilties I wasn't ready for. Hunted by a constant state of anxiety I couldn't shut off anymore and kept on dreaming of my work. Two months in I decided to quit. It was a difficult decision to make and I felt like I have reached my lowest point. Talking to the people close to me helped a lot. Another significant release for me was my piano. This led to my first piece, "Recollections of You". It helped me pick up the fragments and rediscover my identity. 

A few months later started off in a new clinic. Though the beginning was rough, I soon saw that a substantial part of my previous failure was the environment I was in. I steadily gained experience and confidence in my work, reclaiming my sense of identity as a doctor. During that time the piano was my companion. It gave me a sense of release, this ultimately led to my very first EP, "Recollections". Looking back quitting that first job was the best decision I could have made. I am still active as a doctor and though it is demanding I love my job. The music will remain an important balance for me.

Through her glass chest I saw her glass heart. Glass blood was flowing to her glass brain. Her glass eyes reflecting a truth I haven't known. Her glass words were soft and they were sharp.

The background sound is from the home where I grew up during my childhood. The main Instrument of this piece is a soft felt piano, overlayered by strings and a tuba.
