A sound art piece I made in 2008, orginally for exhibition in 8-channel surround sound. I've used binaural processing such that a good pair of headphones will give you an exciting 3D experience. It's using sounds collected from my life in Edinburgh, a few musical elements, and polyrhythms.

Routine

From circa 2005. Many of the sounds here come from my old Commodore Amiga 1200 (still in service) running OctaMED, and the main synth was a piece of software I wrote myself. This was at one point rendered in Dolby 5.1. It's was bloody terrifying.

I was going through a phase of writing songs from the perspective of a computer.

To commemorate the closure of the Neve room at Fortress Studios in late 2011, this is the last recording I ever made there at the recording party I held that Halloween. 'Fortress Of Love' is an ode to the studio, and was written and recorded in about two hours by some of the people who loved it most.

Fortress Of Love

Entirely composed using a ZX Spectrum 128k emulator running Soundtracker, and arranged within the limitations of that technology, dictating a polyphony of three. Mixing and vocals achieved with modern tools. That is my voice. From a suite of songs written from the perspective of a computer.
