2013 has been immense for Defunk. Opening the year with his debut release on High Chai hitting #1 on Beatport Glitch Hop, followed up by another #1 on Simplify, the future is indeed looking bright for this Canadian native. 

Early big looks plus a successful UK / Australia tour has led Defunk to his debut album “Welcome to Groove City” with the High Chai fams.

In the modern world of electronic music, running a label is no easy undertaking. After five years steering the movement of multi-genre bass music, Gravitas Recordings has proven itself an anchor in the industry, even if success is not always measured in play counts or festival billing positions. 

As a label and artist collective, Gravitas has helped cultivate uncounted experiences for passionate music lovers across the world, and as a celebration of five years in this labor of love, the crew has released a compilation to honor a truly noteworthy milestone. The 34 track collection spans only a tiny corner of the label’s massive 100 album catalog, but still offers a healthy slice of the varied styles and artists that have collaborated with Gravitas over the years. New challenges will undoubted await the team in the years to come, but if the past is any indication, Gravitas Recordings will meet every obstacle with creativity and dedication for the foreseeable future.

This is the set I played at Rize Up, the Fire Benefit at 1015 Folsom , hosted by Raindance, Symbiosis Gathering, Soundpieces, Enchanted Forest Gathering and We Got This! It was really good to be able to support the victims of the terrible fires in California, and come together with this great community. Thanks for having me play… it was the first time I DJ’d at 1015 which is somewhere I have spent many, many hours dancing up next to the bass speakers! The lineup was stacked and I was stoked to close out the front room and lay down some late-night beats! Enjoy! <3 Naughty Princess

It's about the influence of corporate lobbyists and the monetary corruption of our so called democracies. Not limited to any side of the political spectrum, our politicians and elected officials have sold us out. 

This song was something I've wanted to write and produce for a long time, and I hope it speaks to you in some way. Massive thanks to Richard Kim for performing the lyrics with his unique fire.
