I loved the original from 1992 and wanted to do a drum & bass remix of it! Here's a rough draft of how it's going so far - hope you like it!

I took samples from the original where I could but had to re-create a lot of it myself whilst adding my own spin on - the original used samples from the theme tune to Trumpton, a popular kids TV series from the 1960s

Iconic BBC programme from the 90s called The Really Wild Show was a wildlife and nature show for kids.

The theme tune used Tony Sherman's 80s disco tune "Ellovee-Ee" in it which I had to remix and bring back some good memories of the 90s :)

Lana Del Rey - Summertime Sadness (Nicky Havey remix) - Free DL - read track info

I saw a documentary on Channel 4 about The Snowman recently as the animation celebrates its 40 year anniversary since it was first aired in 1982. In fact, I was awoken from a nap at my parents house after getting back from work and heard the iconic Walking In The Air music!

The music is so beautifully written by Howard Blake and the animation is based on the book by Raymond Briggs, who sadly passed away earlier this year in August 2022.

Anyone who watched the animated version as a kid, or even as an adult, would have been touched by the story and as I worked on this remix, I had to overcome a lot of tears.

Although the original book never meant to be a Christmas tale, it was adapted in to one and I would recommend anyone to watch the documentary on Channel 4:

Anyway, for this remix, I wanted to completely reinvent what I created many years ago - I was never happy with my first drum & bass remix so went for a more "dreamy" liquid drum & bass vibe here, adding my own elements in to it.

The ending from the original cartoon is so sad and I couldn't put you (or myself) through that again so I edited the original a lot to make it at least not be as sad. Trying to condense 25 minutes down into 5 and a half was a challenge but hopefully you enjoy this remake.

Enjoy those special moments in life, nothing is permanent.

I loved the original by Fatboy Slim released in 2000 - it's helped me through a few troubles in life and so wanted to put a drum & bass spin on it.

I tried seeing if there was a drum & bass remix already out there but I couldn't seem to find one so here's my take on it!

Fatboy Slim - Sunset (Bird of Prey)(Nicky Havey remix)

Heard this iconic track from Miami Vice on an episode of Top Gear earlier last year when the crew went to Miami.

I hadn't heard Crockett's Theme for many years and only heard one (very rough) drum & bass version on Soundcloud from 2010 so wanted to put my own drum & bass spin on it!

Jan Hammer - Crockett's Theme from Miami Vice (Nicky Havey remix)

The original from Freemasons was released in 2007, featuring powerful vocals from Siedah Garrett and a bassline melody that just hit the spot.

This tune was one of many from that time that got me through a tough period and it was only recently that I heard the "You got the power" vocal sample used in some other scenario.

I recognised it and then found the original and it lifted me - then I started wondering if there had been a proper attempt at a Drum & Bass remix that kept the original vibe... there wasn't!

So I found the vocal acappella and learned the chords to play in my own music software, built up the track from there and this is the result!

Sometimes in life, it's nice to forget things very quickly and when I was on holiday last year (this picture was taken at Bear Lake in Yellowstone) all my problems seemed insignificant. Miss Tantrum is a female Drum & Bass producer/vocalist who made an EP a few years back called "Start Again" and I was part of a label which reached out and asked a few of us to remix it.
