As the Extrasketch catalogue continues to build, founder and curator Andrew Rasse, aka Butane, continues to craft and shape yet another a label showcasing a wealth of quality bridging right across the electronic sphere. Originally launched as a ‘vanity imprint’ and a new home for his solo productions, the label has since welcomed collaborations between Rasse and close friends Andras Toth and Riko Forinson. However, the 34th instalment on the label sees things go back to basics as Rasse returns to home turf solo and offers up a slick two-track EP as he drops ‘Rumble In The Jungle’ to open December.

Title track ‘Rumble In The Jungle’ reveals a heady and entrancing production as wandering organic percussion and hypnotic shakers are guided by enchanting vocal interactions, showcasing a cut perfect for hazy early morning hours. To contrast, ‘The Enchantment Is Over’ veers into more techno-tinged spheres as tight metallic drums and sizzling synth lines work in tandem to deliver a tense, suspenseful seven minute ride. Top stuff as always.

Premiere: Orlando Voorn - Tenderness [Heist Recordings]

Being a production line of carefully crafted composition with a meticulous production standard, Calyx & Teebee have delivered yet again. And after dominating the Beatport Top 100 with their most recent single ‘A Day That Never Comes / Snakes & Ladders’, they won’t be applying the brakes anytime soon, especially in the lead up to their greatly anticipated second album on the Ram imprint.

Back on vocal duties, Calyx demonstrates the pair’s multi-dimensional approach to beat making. With plucky percussion relaying you through bouncing subs and a drivingly solid bassline, it defines their vast repertoire of style. They’re not scared to dip into unfamiliar territories, with Calyx’s cool vocals sitting on top of lulling guitar rhythms to provide the first part of a diverse and brilliantly crafted record. 

‘Sawn Off’ rolls out next; it’s a grittier track than its predecessor, with a conundrum of hi-hats and aggressive drum patterns. Pounding pads take you towards a colossal break, heighten by the effect of a cleverly placed sample. The track ricochets throughout, not losing momentum or impact, with an intricately weaved structure, one only achievable by a team who’ve been running the game for decades.  

With an album laying just out of reach, each single is bringing us closer and closer to the inevitable. All four tracks prove they’re still a formidable force to be reckoned with; this LP will only emphasise that fact.

"What You Do", is a fantastic piece of dance music, fusing Finnebassen's famous funk and organic beats with a super-catchy, upbeat vocal that will have you singing while you dance… long after the track has finished. The awesome breakdown throws in more elements that make the track complete and cement the feeling.  The B Side, "A Little Somethin Somethin" is the perfect compliment to the former, a soundtrack of deep thoughts and memories, filled with hazy pads, a silky percussion and a smooth baseline.

The remixes on the do incredible justice to the original mix of  "What You Do" and are greatly diverse in what they set out to achieve. The first, http://soundcloud.com/demarzo 's take on proceedings is fully flavoured and the nastiest of the bunch, with a delicious combination of groove, funk and rhythm. Secondly, Mexican rising stars, http://soundcloud.com/nobody-knows-us, bring us a darkly inspiring piece. Thoughtful and deep, this one is a journey into our hearts and minds. The final remix is from one of NastyFunk Records' head honchos, http://soundcloud.com/jonny-hendriks. His version of the original offers a forward-thinking dynamic, fusing contemplation with cosmic beats.

Don’t expect dancefloor euphoria or big tunes but intelligent deep house and electronica. You can completely visualise their cool parties as this sets the mood pretty sharpish with the brilliantly deep opening track, Night Plane – ‘Angels of sin.’ The party continues with a few tempo and mood changes but always with an emphasis on quality stylish house grooves. Turkish producer Onur Ozman debuts on Hottrax this December with ‘At Spoerri’s EP’, alongside 
a remix from NO ART founders ANOTR. 
Originating from the Istanbul electronic music scene, the Zurich-based artist adds to his busy schedule 
of releases this year by debuting on Jamie Jones’ offshoot. Having previously released on Constant 
Circles, Sincopat and Kwench Records, Onur brings his delicate and emotive production to the forefront 
while Amsterdam based duo ANOTR deliver a remix. 
 
‘At Spoerri's’ opens with atmospheric rain samples and chimes, a cantering drum pattern and melodic 
stabs before ‘KMIYH’ follows with pitched toms, snappy chords and an infectious vocal loop. Next, 
‘Warhol’ takes a hip-hop influence with crunchy snares, doubling kicks and fluttering keys, until finally 
ANOTR’s remix of ‘At Spoerri's’ then elevates the energy by separating a rolling bass line on two 
octaves, working in tight hi-hats and beat repeating the synths.
