My attempt at covering Depeche Mode's 'But Not Tonight'. There are no vocals, and I've tried to take it in a different direction from the original, using the melodies used in the Depeche Mode version. I wanted to give it a more sad and ambient feel.

This cover doesn't sound overly like the original aside from the guitar chords and drum pattern. Personally I don't want to make identical covers as I don't see much of a point, you have the original piece of music for that. I mainly wanted to teach myself some chords to play on my electric guitar and learn more about time scales and how they can keep music more interesting to listen to.

I want to attempt to recreate some of my favourite folk/indie rock/post-rock tracks to teach myself some more guitar playing and timescale techniques. For this I used Sparklehorse's initial guitar chord sequence alongside its timescale, I then tried to recreate the same drum pattern again to his timescale. The rest of the cover is my own creation, I really like ambient pieces and tried to recreate this in the style of artists such as The Album Leaf etc.

Feel like I am slowly getting closer to my desired style. I really want to make depressing ambient music in the long term. It seems a lot easier to do when you're not feeling great. =P This music is trying to communicate the struggle of coming to terms with an end, feelings of isolation, etc.

Want to attempt an album for fun, themed around abuse, because sound is easier to communicate with than words. This is one of the tracks I'd hope to include on it, it's inspired by Tim Hecker, Godspeed You! Black Emperor etc even though it sounds nothing like them. (One day this struggle will end.)

I'm not so great with words, but today I woke up to a new country. A country I've already been growing a dislike for but today I woke up to a shock.
I'm so naive in life when it comes to the compassion and kindness of others but with the EU referendum I really thought we would remain. I woke up to check the news in hope of something positive and refreshing to so many of the growing problems in this country. The first chord that I strike in this piece represents the shock I felt when realising Remain lost the vote. The rest of this track is desperately trying to express my sadness for this country I live in, my fear and frustration under our current government, what is to step in next and fear for a bad result in our next election. Depression is a growing severe problem in this country, I fear for increased suicide, I fear for increased hate, I fear for irreversible backwards steps from unity and peace.
