UK DJ/producer Latmun will add another string to his bow this February as he launches his first label project, Lateral, marking and celebrating his eighth year as an artist. A firm fixture of the global circuit with appearances at venues including DC10, Amnesia, Printworks, Club Space, Hï and Warehouse Project, his sets for the likes of Music On, Paradise and ANTS have seen his profile surge since breaking through. And yet, his stock only looks set to rise further across 2023.

Having released music via a long list of renowned labels across his career, including Hot Creations, Solid Grooves, Relief, Sola, Repopulate Mars, Mindshake and elrow music, the launch unveils a project which has been a long-time in the works - kicking things off in style with his new single, 'Just Play', with further material scheduled throughout the year ahead...

'The first release on Lateral has been a long time coming, but finding the right track has been challenging as I wanted it to reflect correctly what the label is about. 'Just Play' is meant to be exactly that, a combination of different styles resulting in something unique, which hopefully makes you want to 'just play it'. - Latmun.

Opening via a snaking bassline and crisp drum shots before building into a driving anthem armed with skittering, warped vocal samples, 'Just Play' is an impactful and mischievous cut shaped for the peak time, revealing an impressive first glimpse into the future direction of the label.

Melbourne’s William Kiss debuts on Rekids Special Projects with ‘Clap For Me’ EP.

William Kiss’ ‘Clap For Me’ EP on Rekids Special Projects opens with a tom-fuelled groove in its title track, a booty-shaking rhythm intermittently broken up by a repeating ‘Clap For Me’ vocal, setting the tone for a party-starting release. The UNCAGE, Club Bad and 23rd Century artist drops ‘Jacker’ next, harkening back to old-school drum machine funk and invoking pure dance ﬂoor mania through its hypnotism and retro vocal.

‘Werkin’' then sees William Kiss keep the pace through more vocal-driven sampling melded with punchy 909’s, before ‘Talkin’’ continues with full-on house euphoria designed to turn heads. The Melbourne producer then closes things out with ‘Cherry’, which, compared to the preceding tracks, goes down a more classic rolling techno route, showcasing the versatility of an artist who knows the dance through and through.

Tal Fussman’s first EP for Rekids, ‘Definition’, kicks off with ‘Freedom Defines House’ - a contemporary reimagining of the classic NY house cut. Big, drummy and complete with a House-focused spoken vocal, the track channels classic Tenaglia and Vasquez sounds, just with added mix-down punch and flair.

On ’The Royal’, Survival Tactics label-boss Fussman runs with the expansive sound design and power percussion that feature across the whole ‘Definition’ EP but delves into Techno-influences with a soaring set of staccato strings and stabs. ‘Pace’ builds on ’The Royal’s Techno references but contrasts the captivating leads with a tunnelling, heads-down vibe created by rhythmic filtered hits. The closing track, ‘Even Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day’, wraps up the ‘Definition’ EP neatly with a light but driving tone punctuated with yet more anthemic string sections.

Having released on Laurent Garnier’s COD3QR, Innvervisions, Drumpoet, and Dyinamic, Tal Fussman has already established himself as an artist to watch, but this memorable love letter to Detroit and debut for Radio Slave’s evergreen Rekids label sees him take things to the next level.

Andrew Meller returns to Diynamic with his „Summer of Love“ EP, and the title couldn’t be more fitting.

For the second release in Gudu’s new Club Gudu release series, we’re psyched to welcome Melbourne’s William Kiss to the label - with some heavyweight features in tow.

William is one of those artists who just gets how to make tracks work at both small club and festival stage level, with an well-studied knack for oversized basslines and samples that just stick with you from the first listen. Previously releasing music on the likes of RSPX, Bush and Carl Cox’s 23rd Century label and supported by Solomon, Carl Craig, Honey Dijon and Pete Tong, his tracks have been a staple of Peggy Gou’s sets for some time now.

On his first release for Gudu, William teams up with house music royalty in Todd Terry and Roland Clark, reimagining their classic ‘The Preacher’ for 2024 dancefloors. Elsewhere, ‘Two Step’ gives him a chance to get his shuffle on with rolling, quick-footed drums and ‘The Healer’ closes the EP on an seriously epic note - handle this one with care!

coming from a small town in méxico i grew around a macho man environment. i was even kicked out of school for not trimming down my hair because "i was not a girl".

around that time my mom had a relationship with this guy who'd talk about the "proper" way of going to the strip club, and take pride in having various households he'd support because "his women weren't supposed to work". yet he'd had all these fucked up traumas and insecurities, and the more you'd known him the more you'd realize what a coward he was.

this song was for him. i wanted to immortalize him as the title describes. tho i judged their care for each other harshly. i was angry and couldn't understand why he'd be in our lives. regardless of who he was, he'd be a different person to us while he was there.
