Two decades after anchoring the Hardkiss album Delusions of Grandeur with the iconic song Three Nudes in A Purple Garden, Hawke releases the second single from The Dark Art of Light Work and gently ties the bow on a generations worth of Hardkiss music. 

The Dark Art of Light Work flawlessly weaves between genres and you can hear the esoteric and contemplative influence as well as the dancefloor action. Also, the African rhythm and global instrumentation that has been a foundation of the Hawke sound. After all, Gavin grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, and his African roots are interwoven with his Californian optimism.

Bells of San Anselmo embodies a full sound with traditional Indian Sarod and vocals by Paige Sergent inside a flying machine that flies at slower than the speed of sound. 

Hardkiss Music brought in smooth operator Nick Warren with Nicolas Rada to provide a flawless excursion with drawn out moments of dainty delight. 

The Gavin Hardkiss remix takes the song back into old school Hardkiss territory with a breakbeat feel and ethereal gated female vocals.

The latest installment in our free download series welcomes Nicolas Rada for his third appearance. Upon beginning his career in 2007, Nicolas quickly became a favourite of Hernan Cattaneo where his original productions and private remixes become a staple in the sets of the storied DJ. Hailing from Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist eventually found a home on Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden and Eelke Kleijn’s Days Like Nights where his groovy progressive sound has flourished. 2017 proved to be a breakout year, highlighted by his first remix collaboration with Nick Warren, where the duo reworked Upercent’s ‘Pulsacions’ to both critical and commercial success. Now frequent studio partners, Nicolas and Nick have continued to build a strong studio synergy showcasing their original material on Nick’s The Soundgarden imprint while also recording a string of impressive remixes for Get Physical, Monday Social Music, Proton Music and Timeless Moment. On the solo front, Nicolas has also continued to prosper with an appearance on Patrice Buamel’s GU Berlin compilation, along with original projects for Sudbeat Music and TRYBESof. Having first appeared on our free download series with his hugely sought-after remake of Bjork’s ‘Mutual Core’ in 2019 and then again in 2020 with an equally large rendition of Underworld’s ‘Cowgirl’, we’re happy to welcome Nicolas back with a huge interpretation of the Depeche Mode classic ‘Precious’. Initially remixed by progressive house icons Sasha and Spooky in 2005, Nicolas now brings a new perspective to the track which has been championed by John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. 'The latest release on Hicky & Kalo's label Plaisirs Sonores Records is a scintillating package, which brings together two titans of the progressive scene. The EP features two progressive house legends; Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren alongside their collaborators Soundexile and Nicolas Rada. They have both remixed tracks taken from the most recent Hicky & Kalo EP 'Borealis'.

It's been quite a ride for Hicky & Kalo in the last 18 months. The young duo have made a name for themselves in the progressive house scene with a string of quality releases, including a collaboration with Seth Schwarz and releases on Hernan Cattaneo's label Sudbeat and Cid Inc's label Replug. In the meantime, they were remixed by both Rodriguez Jr. and Sahar Z. The reaction to their latest EP 'Borealis' was quite something and the title track was even in the Top 100 Beatport Progressive House for 67 days.

With this powerhouse remix EP now on the way, it is surely the cherry on top of a momentous last 18 months. We hope you enjoy it!'

Pick pick…pick pick… ein kleines plüschiges Wesen kämpft sich aus seinem Ei im eisigen Winter. Als es das erste kleine Loch in die Schale geschlagen hat, späht es mit seinem winzigen Auge durch den engen Spalt. Unser kleiner Freund konnte jedoch nichts sehen außer glitzerndes Weiß. Es musste schnell ein zweites Loch her, um mehr von der Umgebung außerhalb des mittlerweile zu klein gewordenen „tiny house`s“ zu erkunden. Doch auch durch das zweite Loch ist nur Weiß zu sehen. Leicht sauer piepst das kleine Küken und wendet all seine Kraft auf, um seinen Kopf durch die Schale zu drücken. Es stemmt und drückt sich gegen die Decke und mit einem Satz durchbricht es den Widerstand und auch die darüber liegende leichte Schneedecke. Es kneift die Augen zusammen, da es fürchterlich hell ist. Doch bald gewöhnt es sich an die Sonnenstrahlen und erblickt eine wunderschöne Winterlandschaft. 
Wow ist das schön hier, denkt sich unser kleines Pinguin Baby. Es fühlt sich jedoch schnell allein. Der Gedanke mobilisiert die letzten Kräfte des kleinen Rackers. Es springt aus dem Ei auf den Schnee und rutscht weg. Die Beinchen sind noch zu wackelig um das Plüschknäul zu halten und es stürzt vornüber. Unglücklicherweise ist unser Pinguinfreund an einem seichten Hang geschlüpft und purzelt jetzt selbigen hinunter. Dabei formt sich aus dem Küken bald ein Schneeball der immer größer wird und weiter unten sanft durch einen kleinen Strauch aufgehalten wird. Völlig erschöpft von diesem Abenteuer schläft unser flauschiger Entdecker ein.
Als das Küken wieder erwacht befindet es sich in einem Schlitten, der über die verschneiten Felder peitscht. Neben sich auf dem Fahrersitz erspäht es eine seltsam sympathisch dreinblickende Persönlichkeit. „Hallo ich bin Nicolas und habe dich am Straßenrand im Schnee gefunden. Ich dachte du könntest die Wärme meiner Decke hier im Schlitten gut gebrauchen. Zudem bin sehr froh endlich einen Mitreisenden auf meiner Tour gefunden zu haben“, sagte Nicolas. „Wenn du magst findest du im Handschuhfach lecker Plätzchen“, ergänzt er. Seit wann hat ein Schlitten ein Handschuhfach und hat er gerade Plätzchen gesagt? Denkt sich der Pinguin. Eilig reißt er die Verpackung auf und mampft zufrieden Zimtsterne und Vanille Kipferl.  Eingemummelt in der Decke und bedeckt von Krümeln freut sich der Pinguin, den für ihn heiligen Nicolas getroffen zu haben. Und seit dieser Zeit tourt der Pinguin glücklich mit seinem Retter durch die Clubs dieser Welt.

Spring 2021 saw french producer / dj Marcan Liav release his acclaimed debut long-player "Sanctuary" and now just over a year later after much hard work behind the scenes we are proud present the first of four Sanctuary: Remixed EP's.

Remixed I see's five tracks from the album reworked by a stellar cast. Kicking things off is "Short Life" from Italian producer Sasha Carassi who has graced high calibre labels throughout his career including Bedrock, Drumcode, Diynamic, Knee Deep In Sound, ATLANT, KATERMUKKE, Sincopat, Selador and Renaissance to name a few.

"Oucha" receives the attention of the dynamic duo Nick Warren x Nicolas Rada put their stamp on the track, Nick of course needs no introduction as he is a bonafide legend with a career mostly spent at the forefront of club culture: he packs clubs and arenas worldwide from London to Buenos Aires to Burning Man, transfixing dancefloors with his distinctively forward blend of credible progressive sounds, deeper tunes, atmospheric layers and any other grooves he deems appropriate for his turntable. He is of course also one half of the legendary double act Way Out West. His remix alongside Argentinian star Nicolas Rada reflects both their dj and production styles perfectly. Nicolas has built up a strong reputation in his own right as a producer and dj. With Nick he has produced from labels such as Get Physical, The Soundgarden (Nick Warren's imprint), Happy Camper, and Manjumasi amongst others.

A regular fixture on the label Darkersound drops his treatment of the track "Bloody Heart". He's graced Stripped with some very accomplished works since his debut label debut in the summer of 2020.

Canadian duo Savage and SHē enhance their ever growing reputation with another accomplished remix this time for the track "Quantique". The duo have just had major success this year already with a collaborative EP on Crosstown Rebels w/ Made by Pete.

The fifth and final track rounding things off, we welcome Eric Volta who has taken on the track "Mister O". Eric who's eclectic style has seen him feature on labels such as All Day I Dream, No.19, Mobilee, Warung. A fitting track to round off this first of four Remix EP's.

If a new generation of self-identity artists is emerging within the electronic music scene, there is where we will certainly find the Argentinian Nicolás Rada, a DJ and producer who has created his own firmly-based path onwards success.

His early influences of Progressive Rock have led him to create a characteristic sound that his public appreciates and that makes you enjoy either on the dance floor or out of it. That sound is the one which conducted him to different labels such as The Soundgarden, Sudbeat, Balance, Get Physical, Chapter24, Sincopat, DAYS Like NIGHTS, Hoomidaas, Proton, among many others.

Since his very first steps in electronic music, up to date, Nicolás’ productions have received support from important referents as Nick Warren, Hernán Cattaneo, John Digweed, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg, Guy Mantzur, Guy J, Patrice Baumel, Eelke Kleijn, Armen Miran and from many others. This guidance has given, and will surely give many opportunities to his carreer. Thus, the legendary Nick Warren proposed him to make some collaborations together and that is how not only their professional but also personal relationship began, releasing “Land of Dreams”, an EP edited by Nick’s label, The Soundgarden.
Warren’s musical knowledge challenged Nicolás with a new goal in a crucial moment of his carreer, to produce an album. And that’s the origin of “Resilience”. In addition to that, Patrice Baumel included Nicolás’ track “Cumulonimbus” in the prestigious album Global-Underground Berlin and Nick Warren added one of their productions to the mythological label Balance.

His rising carreer as DJ has taken Nicolás to fly around the globe to participate in many festivals and to present his shows in venues from countries like Netherlands, Hungry, Spain, Mexico, Colombia and Sri Lanka. In his own country, he has covered almost all Argentina, visiting the most important clubs not only as main artist, but also supporting important other DJs like Sasha, Nick Warren, Satoshi Tomii, Guy Mantzur, Sebastien Leger and others.
But certainly, the nights in Buenos Aires are the main stage for Nicolás’ shows. The most important clubs in the city, as Crobar, The Bow, BNN, JetBA, Niceto Club y Oasis Río, have received this DJ many times, also sharing cabin with other Argentinian colleagues.

His eclectic style and his distinctive, but also versatile sound, which lets him dive into different genres without being tied to just one unique style, is the most outstanding attribute of the music of this DJ and producer whose carreer is just taking off to a promising future.
