Want to know about your could be valedictorian's involvement at CBU? Each nominee was required to write up to two pages about their involvement at CBU and why they would be a good pick to represent the spring class of 2013. So, feel free to take a listen to mine. If selected to be your valedictorian this would not be my speech as I would talk more generally about the life of a student at CBU. But here is a taste of my experience with Cape Breton University.

A Resume from Your Could Be Valedictorian

Hey there! I'm a 4th year at Cape Breton University.  I'm currently a nominee for valedictorian and so I wanted to share with you a few of my past word projects:)

Below is a wee write up of who I am and what to expect if I am selected to represent the graduating class of spring 2013. The voting will be online and start at midnight on Tuesday, April 2nd and close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 12th. Voting is open to all potential grads.

Nicole has long loved words and after four years of spending many a late nights reading all of the books and writing all of the papers (almost!) Nicole is proud to be graduating with an Honours degree in English along with her theatre arts certificate. With all of these words in her head she would like to share a few with her graduating class this spring. Nicole has taken on many roles at CBU: from performing on the Boardmore stage to shelving books at the library, photocopying tutee forms at the front desk of the students’ union to (most recently) taking on the role of Women’s Centre coordinator. 

She has witnessed the lows that her fellow grads suffered through: the brutal all nighters and the caffeine induced panic attacks, the occasional moments of intense self doubt and an inability to ever land the perfect parking spot. She has also watched students experience the joys of university whether it was savoring the sweet satisfaction of emailing a prof an assignment at 11:59PM or delighting in the cafeteria spoils known as ‘deli day’ to finally achieving this piece of paper we have long hoped for.

If selected to represent the class of spring 2013, Nicole promises minimal clichés, sprinkled lightly with humor and a focus on CBU’s amazing ability to create an inspiring community of (albeit exhausted) but incredible individuals.
