Pierre Deutschmann - Defcon (Torsten Kanzler Remix) Preview

Berlin and Detroit are probably the most important cities when it comes to techno history. Both metropolises are full of influences, energy and flow. The german capital of techno as well as its american counterpart are responsible for the incredible development of a worldwide music movement and its culture. Pierre Deutschmann, the Berlin dj producer and remixartist is part of the german techno scene since the beginning. You can call him a real "primitive rock" of techno. He dedicated his new album to Berlin and Detroit. These cities and the music from out there affected him during the last 20 years. The Berlin original is always busy in the studio. As label head of XLR1507, producer and remixer for lots of labels like Kiddaz, Bush or BluFin. Especially "BluFIn" can be described as his home base, so there was no doubt that his album "Betroit" will be released on that Cologne based label. The Album contains 15 unique and brand new tracks. The whole Betroit project was generated by Pierre during the last 6 months. Deutschmann has a very high musical standard. He experimented a lot with analogue gear and as a real perfectionist, it was really hard to make a cut til end. He worked and reworked on the tracks until the last minute. But now, he finished it and it can be described as a real techno masterpiece. Betroit shows and reflects Pierre Deutschmann from several sides. He collected countless of influences and experiences during the last decades, and he assimilated these in the album. The mix of classic and "oldschool" elements paired with modern and timeless techno tunes makes Betroit real special. It describes Pierre Deutschmann as a Dj and producer. The album tracks are perfect dj tools but the tracks are also working independently. It s serious techno for having fun with it. Doesn´t matter if it s before, after or in the club. Pierre Deutschmann`s Betroit will be released after the summer break, around september, on CD and digital. There will be a single release prior the album including the outstanding track "Emphasis". Pierre organized three very strong remixer for this number: DJ Emerson, Dubspeeka and Drumcomplex & Roel Salemink. Watch out and let you catch by the spirit of Betroit! Pan-Pot are back, this time with the Cells EP on their newly formed label, Second State. The new label sees Pan-Pot taking full creative control as they move into the second phase of their career, and both Cells and Third Eye are keen indicators that the pair are starting a new chapter of their sonic journey.

The title track Cells was built around the synthline after it caught Pan-Pot right from the beginning. Similar to a cell starting in its simplest form and expanding, the track builds into a peak of full dynamic and volume and is packed with a variety of frequencies.

Nicole has returned to Drumcode all guns blazing with her new ‘Bittersweet EP’. The A- side ‘I Know Where I’ve Been’, is a deep rolling techno machine that uses a constant building percussion loop that eventually explodes into some serious funky signature Moudaber techno! ‘Bittersweet’ is a techno belter that uses a hypnotic synth rhythm that will take the listener into another world. The repetitive claps induce a flurry of energy and excitement whilst supported by the crisp highs.

Ideal Audio presents the fourth and final instalment of Oliver Huntemann and Dubfire's seminal ELEMENTS series. These techno heavyweights have worked together on numerous projects over the years, but it is their Elements collaborations that have shone impressively as a complete body of work. AGUA is the final piece of the music puzzle and completes the series that first saw the light of day back in 2010 with the scorching FUEGO.

2011 brought us TERRA, firm and powerful with its devastating breakdown. 2013 saw us breathe in the mystical AIRE, harnessing the elements of the previous tracks to build a fresh and magical moment. AGUA, as its name suggests, flows effortlessly, helped in no small part by the sultry vocal of Xenia Beliayeva, but kicks in equal measure.

Signing off in such style has also lead to Ideal Audio drafting in some heavy weight talent on the remixes. Carl Craig, under his C2 moniker, dives straight in to strip the original to its core. A single drum beat, siren, clap… and then the kick. Petar Dundov twists the original’s elements into a bubbling acidic stream that washes over us. An impressive package for an impressive finale!

Putting an invitingly impish riff to the front of expansive CPU minimalism, a dainty flicker darts and twinkles through vast volumes of German dance history – so either lower your head down or look to the heavens. 

‘Ten Commandments’ is a classic swish of deep techno to bow down to. With foot hard on the gas and pistons cranked up by a loop sharpening its claws like Wolverine flexing into a pair of white gloves, the mechanical, metallic scenery comes with a bracing drift and discreet funk running through it.

'The Other One' is the first of two EPs from the duo's upcoming long player and with the two carefully selected tracks; 'Pina' and '808 Nirvana', it's exactly what you come to expect from the duo. 

'808 Nirvana' is a white knuckle ride laced with fast paced stabs, shakers and snares while meteoric rises carry you into deep space. 'Pina', aptly titled after the newborn addition to the family, is a bundle of energy. It was in 2014 when a mutual friend introduced me to Victor Ruiz while he was staying here in Berlin. I invited Victor to my studio where we had a fantastic session, playing our music to each other, listening to stuff we like and simply talkin and connecting. Since then, we became close friends as well as starting to work together. Victor has released two outstanding EPs on Electric Ballroom by now. This summer we met again and recorded three tracks. A work 12 months in the making, Adam Beyer continues his exciting series of collaborative EPs, teaming up with heavy-hitters Pig&Dan for an multi-faceted four-tracker.

Chances are up if you spied Adam Beyer in an airport departure lounge over the past 12 months, he’d have his head buried in his laptop, immersed in creating sound sketches. A long-time fan of collaborations, the Drumcode chief has been on an inspiring streak of form lately, teaming up with the likes of Mark Reeve, Dense & Pika and now Pig&Dan. The results have been compelling, to say the least. 

In trademark perfectionist Beyer style, the title track ‘Capsule’ – a shimmering slice of techno - involved “around 15 different versions” the track rigorously road tested by the Swede and featured in episodes of Drumcode Radio to test dancefloor reactions, before finally getting the sign off.  ‘In Love’ is a big room techno groover, driven by crisp drums and the kind of evocative vocal effect that’ll have hairs standing on ends. ‘Atmosfear’ is true to its name, centered on a menacing synth line and gritty percussion, its deep kicks and subterranean bass combining superbly to create a heady dancefloor brew. ‘We Are E’ is propelled by a catchy synth hook and a classic call-to-arms vocal, which tips its cap to the artists’ shared love of classic UK rave.
