Notes:
In all honesty, I was initially stumped at how to handle Austin's contest this time around. The rhythm given, by its very nature, was pointing my head generally in a combative direction. So naturally, I wanted to head to an opposite place since going for a block-rocking beat seemed too obvious but I just wasn't sure how. My previous endeavor with Austin's last contest led me to chase after dreamlike theming so I thought I'd start there to also have this piece act as a spiritual successor to "false prophecy".

Thus, I found myself employing the contest rhythm, in whole and fragments, across the tracks to glue together the dream-evoking floatiness of the rest of the elements and texture. Everything kind of fell together from there and it developed into, in my mind, a meditation on arriving at a place in life where long-time dreams have come true but you haven't quite finished processing it all so it feels virtual or unreal.

Shaping the music around that notion absolutely resonates strongly with where I am right now.

Thank you again, Austin for this challenge and everything! It still was truly a dream come true to work with you on Aliens: Fireteam Elite and I continue to wish you all the best.

this year, i tried my hand at making a mid 2000s fighting game vocal OP themed around all nighter 9 since the pre-event fighting game theming left such a strong impression on me! i was so extremely hyped seeing the announcement for the event there in the crowd at form fest seattle as the show closed :) by far one of my favorite artbyform hype sequences

though this particular all nighter was shaky for me, i am still satisfied to arrive to a point where i've been participating long enough to have done 6 tracks so far during the all nighters <3 

its been such a year in form with any% level 2, form fest london, and an all nighter to send us off before its hiatus so thank you to all pink lads and formlings always for making up a creative community i am proud to be in for over half a decade at this point.

things did not go in ways i expected since i was also attending a family wedding smack dab in the middle of all nighter but i've had some more time to reflect on this all nighter weekend and learned a lot like i do every year! 

i did wake up the morning of the event reminiscing and wanting to write about my day out with the pink lads near the chappel & wakes colne railway station the day after form fest london...but i gave myself over to the in-the-moment emotional flow of the event and had a lot else on my mind too. i had just seen my most anticipated movie of the year (weapons 2025) the night before all nighter and had also started getting in my head about my nostalgia and sentimental tendencies and how it affects both my physical spaces and how i engage with my interests. 
there was more tension and short-temper in my system than i would've liked but i ran with it all anyways for both the song and the cover art.

also i want to give a special thanks to @eerrepe for keeping me company when i need a cousin by my side and for his feedback on both the song and the cover art for the community release <3

Notes:
I went in listening to the contest audio at first and admiring how dreamlike the nyckelharpa audio sounded. Then, I got thinking about how some of the most vivid dreams I've ever had tend to get cutoff right when I think it's starting to get good and even more immersive. I thought I'd write something that tries to capture that whimsy, confusion, impermanence, and incompleteness.

I've always been a big fan of Austin Wintory's music as his work on Journey was one of the first a-ha moments for me that lead me to study in and pursue a career in game audio. I've been writing mostly music for my sophomore year game project at DigiPen lately, so this was refreshing to work on.

I did this remix for r/Madeon discord's @madeon remix contest back in December! 

Thought I might as well share in the celebration of Daft Punk's conclusion today. Listeners during the contest said it came off as an emulation of their Homework vibe and honestly that wasn't a conscious decision but it really just goes to show how deeply rooted the duo is in my DNA and Madeon's DNA. If you ask me, I feel Madeon is the perfect successor to their legacy if I had to look to one artist in particular.

I love Daft Punk to beyond and back and I wish them a very restful retirement.
