FORWARD LETTER:

This piece was largely inspired by insomnia and the experience of mixed-mood states, and what they might be visualized as a soundscape in their often incalculable manner and varying degrees of intensity. “Shroud” is defined as follows: 1. A cloth or sheet in which a corpse is wrapped for burial, and 2. Something that covers or conceals like a garment. This piece wasn’t composed with either definition in mind; rather the title of the piece came to me instantaneously. The listener is encouraged to apply their own experiences and what they feel is appropriate based upon their impressions.
