The holiday summer sun was shining, the kids were playing nicely, the wives were reading magazines and the beer was flowing nicely so it was time for the newest mix. Some nice deep house, mixed with some funky stuff then blended with some really nice tech house and some mellow techno, it was fun doing it, hopefully you have fun listening to it......enjoy. so part 2 of the back in the day series, this time Rockin Robbo's Revenge. So back in the day DJs recorded onto cassette tape, typically 90mins but every now and again a DJ would come up trumps and give you another 10mins with the rare 100min tapes.....this was one of mine!
Some nice chilled out vibes for the first 35mins, lots of percussion (some nice tunes from Back2Basics, featured on recent Ralph Lawson Basic's compilations), then after Dirty Cash by Stevie V then we go into lots of retro tunes.....but not mainstream!
Named after Shaun 'Rockin Robbo' Robson......if you remember Shaun out clubbing you would know why!!
So hope you like it and sure you will remember lots of these old tunes

So good old Pip Innis opened a clothing shop in Darlington in mid 90's and asked me if I would DJ in the shop on the opening day.....was cool and I flogged "I don't want to be a Freak" mix. Some great tunes on this mix!!!!

Right.....imagine 1993, imagine the basement in the music factory in Leeds.......and Huggy pumping his heavy electro/techno beats. This tape was bought on the night of the 2nd birthday party of backtobasics...think it was a fiver, there was also the Ralph Lawson tape they were selling....but can't find that one ..."yet". Basic's was THEE place to be and me and the pals had many memorable nights there.......what a place and what a club and as you will see with this mix from Huggy.......he knew the tunes to get the Basics basement crowd going!!!
