I sat on this for years before I used it for my remix of Myon & Shane 54's Outshine. Bigpads was the working title, and this was 9 (out of 18) revisions before I started working it into the MS54 remix. I really liked this and part of me wishes I kept it as an original, but something about it just wasn't working for me, which I why I left it for so long. I think Natalie Peris' voice was just what it needed.

Blugazer's "Ethereal Concepts," one of our favorites from this year's "Silk Royal Showcase 04" compilation, finally receives a full single release on our parent label, including powerfully emotive interpretations by Shingo Nakamura and Piramex. Based in NYC, Blugazer has generated strong buzz in the international trance & progressive community over the last few years, on account of his intricate, visionary productions. His original version is centered on a gentle groove, while a variety of relaxing and lush melodies are equally entrancing. The instrumental themes are quite memorable, yet the most breathtaking effects are provided by an unnamed female vocalist, whose ethereal voice offers a deep catharsis to the listener.

Veteran star Shingo Nakamura, fresh off a wonderful collaboration with Jody Wisternoff and James Grant on the recent "Anjunadeep 06" release, offers a deliciously deep take in the spirit of the original version. Soothing pads and a buoyant rhythm provide the listener with a floating-on-air sensation, while Shingo's signature chords offer uplifting melodic vibes. In the main break, Shingo's gorgeous piano lines, which beautifully coalesce with the vocal stabs, are a welcome addition to the soundscape.

Rising Russian talent Piramex, who recently won our "Both" remix contest, provides a peak-hour rendering, fueled by a ferocious bassline. As the song crescendoes toward the climax, vocal effects and pad layers are added, creating an aura of suspense. In the main break, a reworked vocal sequence soars above an anthemic bassline progression, while a variety of side melodies fill out the soundscape. The thunderous drop to follow is awe-inspiring.

Prismatic light refracted through car windows on a bright sunlit morning; a voyage of discovery toward the unseen places, towns, valleys and shores. Nigel’s Good’s evolving journey through the subtleties of flowing melody, intricately constructed piano and immaculate rhythm, enable us to “Discover” poise and musical grace. An assured debut and a soundtrack for optimism as uplifting riffs and vibrant grooves from his Canadian homeland transport the listener through changing window views and channel that unforgettable feeling of freedom pulsing with vitality in synchronicity with driving beat.

Landscapes ebb and flow, constantly shifting patterns tease the skyline against a static, infinite horizon. Fragments of memories pervade the consciousness as veteran Russian producer, Mango, provides musical eloquence once more on a journey of reminiscence. Times to “Remember” through emotive chord progressions and sublime musical meanderings as richly textured melodic layers are juxtaposed against angular rhythms. Nostalgia motions through a window framed against changing landscapes.

A state of flux between no longer and not yet: “remember”, “discover”, out on the road once again.

I began writing this as a follow up to “Always Running”, which was released in 2013 and remains one of the tracks I’m most proud of. It incorporates a lot of elements from the original. This was, for a brief time, a failed vocal track that I can’t share. The nuts and bolts of this eventually went on to form the basis 
of my Save Tonight remix. Listen close, and you can hear the similarities.

Still Running

This was the first edit of my track Discover, which eventually took on a whole different feel. You can hear the similarities, though, especially in that harp sound, which is a plucked piano string. There’s a good minute at the beginning to just appreciate the beauty that is a chord pluck progression from Sylenth.
