ROUGH Radio is an online community radio and streaming platform broadcasting 24/7 based in the heart of Rome at Spazio Fontanella next to Castel Sant'angelo. The station is dedicated to community-building and creating visibility for underrepresented artists.

Brutal Forms w/ SKUMRING | ROUGH RADIO

Eve Schwarz and Cody Lobbestael’s paths crossed coincidentally due to common friends in the electronic realm and a similar sonic background and vision. Spontaneously the idea of a collaboration emerged as both sides at that time felt a little stuck in their creative process yet inspired by the other one’s approach. Supplied with VELDT’s live-recorded analogue drum loops, Eve started snipping and layering and giving four different sessions the shape of a track and a unique identity balancing industrial power with club characteristics. The reference to the classical ballet terms in title and track IDs is the result of the quite unknown David Lynch short film “Ballerina” running in the background during the studio works - which created, despite an obviously harsh contrast, still a deeply sensual harmony and autonomous symbiosis as an audio-visual experience.

The release also features contributions from artists and remixers such as Dolgener, Tomohiko Sagae, Nemrac, and Cranya.

Emanating from the Moroccan dry lands, Hedon is a project that seeks to channel and muster undiscovered frequencies inspired by desolate and noir tinged landscapes feeding off the north-african hypnotic rhythms and Moroccan unique aesthetics. 

The project strives to explore sonic territories through a conceptual lens it defines as (OOMO) — Object-Oriented Musical Ontology — a framework for composing music as a non-linear constellation of sonic objects, patterns, and cultural fragments.  Each track is less a song than a living structure — an evolving dialogue between chaos, memory and ancestry — unfolding like sonic ecosystems: chaotic, intuitive and deeply rooted in place and memory, seeking not to explain, but to evoke.

§ (section) is a reflection — a flashback to the raw, underground energy of the post-Covid rave era, before the scene became saturated with mainstream trends and commercial aesthetics. It’s a call to remember what the dancefloor used to feel like: intimate, intense, and unfiltered.
The EP The Last Wish draws inspiration from the video game narrative in which, at the very end, a portal sends you back to the beginning. That cyclical motion mirrors the artist’s final wish: to return to the roots — to the sweat-drenched warehouses, to the uncompromising sound, to the underground. This is not nostalgia for the sake of it — it’s a sonic rebellion. A time loop. A ritual. A last wish to rewind the scene.
Accompanying the three original § (section) tracks are remixes from a trio of underground disruptors: Tunnel, Violent, and 2+2=5. Each brings their own strain of industrial techno chaos — from Tunnel’s mechanical pulse and cavernous atmospheres to Violent’s scorched-earth distortion and breakneck pressure, to 2+2=5’s bleak, experimental deconstructions. These aren’t just remixes — they’re mutations. Warped reflections of the original vision, dragged deeper into the warehouse void. Together, they push the § (section) mythology further into the shadows, amplifying the raw intensity of the contemporary circuit.

The title 'Myth Machine' demonstrates all the richness of meanings that gives us words connected by genitive case: if you want, read it 'The Mythical Machine', or "The Machine Creating Myths".

Ambiguity here plays into our hands. This epic compilation by NEN Records is dedicated to myths as a ways of giving meaning to the suffocating meaningless reality. It is devoted to narratives, coherent or broken, that each of contributors create by their own lives. Perhaps, therefore, the release turned out to be so poly-stylistic, and there is nothing to be surprised at.

And of course, behind all these narratives, lurks the shadow of a huge and hardly perceived Machine, which severely cuts off the plot lines and - arbitrarily, it would seem, draws new ones.

Note: All tracks on the compilation are created on electronic machines of varying complexity, each of which, for sure, has a hidden desire to tell its own machine myth (and you can even distinguish it).

This is the return of the collaborative project ‘VOFA’, by Sawf and ANFS, on Pi Electronics. The Athens based duo, that put out the label’s debut release, deliver another 4-tracker of their signature sound for the 5th Pi record. PI05.1 is a bass line oriented composition of thrilling beauty, while PI05.2 and PI05.4 provide different takes on the main PI05 theme: one leaning closer to UK breaks’ influences and the other closer to industrial, hard hitting broken beats. Pi05.3 offers a driving tool of distorted realities and tuning bass lines. All tracks showcase further focus on sound texture and dynamics’ balance, providing a perfect blend of Sawf and ANFS in joint forces as VOFA.

A malevolent obscurity is followed by a sentimental melancholy drifting towards a deep journey into the introspection and the subconscious. It constantly emerges into the horrific and ritualistic soundscape of cryptic techno, of ancient tribal images, and of industrial dystopian visions, all melancholy is then shattered for having embraced evilness.
Giuseppe Sciretti is an experimental electronic music artist based in Puglia, southern Italy. He signed his first EP for DVNTT in 2017 and has since released several works including V/A, EPs, and albums on Thrènes, Several Minor Promises, Forbidden Teachings, Kontralamakina, VùMantra, Depth Request, Ohm Resistence, Brutal Forms.. as well as remixes by Pact Infernal, Orphx, Killawatt, Alexey Volkov, Torn Relics, and others.

Isolate is a project oriented to the dynamics of existing connections between man and the universe, translated into musical frequencies. Musical productions are the result of an alchemical process that transforms emotions into music (without following a particular "school" that explains how to do "something"), but listening to the instincts of the moment. His live performances are a continuous and sophisticated journey through the contamination of different musical genres, creating a surreal atmosphere where the only goal is to work on the deep emotions of their listeners.
