Alexander Skancke is a Berlin-based DJ born out of the subterranean depths of a new underground and is known for his potent productions and vivid sets. The young Norwegian thrives off the energy of the people on the dancefloor and has made a sizeable impact on the European electronic music scene.

Entrenched in love for vinyl and analog productions, Skancke is imbued with a passion for the very roots of house music and has found his path by carefully selecting records that have a uniqueness and originality to them. His arduous passion for collecting records is translated to all aspects of his project, from his work at Bikini Waxx record shop to the management of his own prestigious label “Quirk”.

The last time we spoke to Herodot, the Romanian was walking us through the labyrinthine Sunrise Hub that he painstakingly helped to create from the ground up. Incredibly, that was 2019 and a hell of a lot has happened in that time. Above all else there has been an unreal amount of gigs for one of Sunrise’s silent assassins. A clear favourite in his home country he regularly drops science at the likes of Sunwaves, Electric Castle, as well as venturing further afield to the likes of Air House in South Korea, Club De Visionaere in Berlin and Fabrika in Tunisia. Pathagonia is an Italian duo featuring Noha and Alex Tea. Friends for a long time, it really shines through in their music. Typically made-for-the-dancefloor gems, the pair has put out a bunch of brilliant cuts over the years, most notably the epic Chi Ci Pensa. Incredibly, that one came out five years ago now, but they’ve lost none of their studio gusto in the intervening years, whether they’re producing on their own or in tandem with one another. As if to prove the point, their latest offering is an album, HOW LOW CAN YOU GO, released via the mighty Yoyaku. With all this in mind, we were chuffed to have the guys on for our landmark 200th mix. Following in the footsteps of some serious heavy hitters, they nonetheless deliver with aplomb. As they always do! Dutch artist Joren Edwards has consistently impressed with his deep, yet thoroughly techy output. With sterling editions of his work finding rightful homes on labels such as Crossed Grooves, Atipic, PIV, VBX, as well as an incoming bomb EP for Italian imprint Fake Society, few can deny his credentials. One feat that few can lay claim to is being as deft in front of a pair of turntables as they are in the studio, Joren takes this offering one step further with a kick ass live set to boot.

Utilising hardware to create and recreate music is what playing live is all about and Joren is well known for his love of gear. On his live set for our InSession series he makes use of his trusty APC, Elektron Digitone, and Roland TR8S and the results are a deep, lush trip through minimal techno. Joren has also opted to add his laptop to his setup where all manner of processing and sample triggering is housed, we can only imagine of the goldmine of apps and musical extracts live here. Recorded live at his home studio, this live set is a like a warm cosy blanket that envelopes the listener from start to finish. One to be enjoyed in a comfy chair with headphones as well as at full volume while getting your groove on.

Born in Italy, she now lives in Berlin (from where she runs the much-acclaimed 60waves record store alongside Brouqade boss Dana Ruh), and also works as a DJ and a label owner. 

The latest artist to step up for our podcast series, Ceruti is also a wicked DJ, and someone who naturally keeps her ear to the ground for brilliant sounds. Following an intense year where she was hospitalised during the summer, she’s now back at it and feeling more invigorated than ever. We caught up with her recently to discuss her journey in music, how her illness gave her a new lease of life and much more besides…

Hailing from the vibrant coastal city of Barranquilla, Colombia, Alexander Gentil is a DJ and producer who has been making waves in the music industry with his experimental approach to productions. However, his journey into the world of music was influenced not only by his Colombian roots but also by his time spent in New York City, the city he now calls home. During his formative years, Gentil developed a deep passion for the dance club scene and the DJs who electrify it, ultimately leading him to pursue a career in music. His dedication to the craft led him to study sound engineering, a versatile skill that has paved the way for his success as a DJ and producer.

Gentil’s diverse musical journey has seen him mix and master records across a wide range of genres, working with both established and emerging artists. Among his proudest achievements is a double-vinyl remix release of "Making Ends Meet," a nearly two-decade-old hidden gem by Craig Richard's little-known alias, Scumdolly. Gentil breathed new life into this classic, showcasing his talent for crafting unforgettable sounds. And more recently, Gentil released his own track, “Renazanz,” signed to DJ Mag Latin America. What’s more, Gentil also runs the Errant Recordings label, a project “infused with diversity, experimentation and modern day tech advances.” We caught up with Alexander recently, to learn more about the label, his future plans and also to chat over the mix he did for us…

With one foot in New York fueling her creativity and influencing her in the way only New York can, and the other firmly in Berlin, her second home, exposing her to some of the best clubs in the world - Karina is one to watch our for. These two huge influences along with her international upbringing in Norway, Egypt and Poland and her creative multilingual mindset all shine brightly through her music.

10 years living and working on the famous mediterranean island of Ibiza has seen her involved with some of the biggest promoters in the music industry such as Cocoon Ibiza and Monza. An avid collector and player of all things vinyl, she is also one of the residents and creators of Ibizas most successful weekly open-air party The Zoo Project. Berlin, her second home, exposed her to its raw creativity helping her develop her production skills whilst playing at venues such as Kater Holzig, Sisyphos or Kitkat.

We're delighted to have Karina on board for our 206th edition with a fusion of minimal, house and dubs.
