The rising UK producer serves up a modern take on ‘90s house and trance with four dancefloor-ready tracks, including a peak-time remix from Alex Virgo

UK producer Benjamin Groove makes his full-length debut on Fortune Signal with the euphoric Natter Natter Natter EP, following a noteworthy remix for the label in early 2024. Set to release on September 20th, 2024, the EP also includes a mainstage-ready remix from frequent UK collaborator and Pomme Frite Records founder Alex Virgo. Following successful releases on Nervous Records, The Basement Discos, True Romance Records, and Shall Not Fade, Benjamin Groove serves up three original tracks that channel a modern take on the house and trance he grew up listening to with his parents in the '90s.

The title track and opener, “Natter Natter Natter,” gets things started with a bouncy and sun-drenched groove paired with hazy vocal samples that transport listeners to the care-free feelings of summer beach and roof parties. The uplifting “Quicksilver 90” follows with pulsing trance-inspired bass and swirling, shimmering synths as an homage to the legendary DJ Quicksilver. Dialing up the energy and tension on the final original track, “Lockstock” delivers a more rave-ready take on the EP’s influences with booming drums supplying a harder groove, juxtaposed by ethereal flute and percussive melodies.

Alex Virgo’s full-throttle take on “Natter Natter Natter” shows his usual talent, amping up the main melody with blazing synth stabs made for peak-time dancefloor moments. Following popular recent releases on labels like Bordello a Parigi, Shall Not Fade, and his own Pomme Frite, this remix adds to an ever-impressive catalog.

Mariano Mateljan is a Croatian DJ and producer who has long been a key figure in his country's underground electronic music scene. Growing up in Split during the 90s and early 2000s, his musical journey was shaped by the city's thriving club culture, which introduced him to a wide spectrum of sounds, from house to techno and drum’n’bass. Known for his deep, groovy, and minimalistic style, Mariano has established himself as both a DJ and label head, launching the u.dig imprint to showcase like-minded artists. His work has earned him widespread respect, with support from industry heavyweights like Ricardo Villalobos and Sonja Moonear, while his releases and remixes continue to push the boundaries of electronic music.

Ever since his first exposure to House music in the 90s, Salin has thrown himself into producing, DJing and all facets of hardware discovery. His initial work on white labels and edits blossomed into the formation of Salin Records, which he has used as an outlet for his recent creative expressions. His sound is firmly established in house traditions, with expert groove lines and melodic sequences being utilized to full effect, but it is his love of equipment which has continued to fuel his desire to explore his sound to the fullest. His tunes are fun, fresh and emotive, bringing together the very best of the genre, with his own personal twist on things riding front and centre throughout his enriching discography.

Christophe Salin has always explored emotional depths within his music, an application of thought and process that makes his music feel alive. On ‘Ocean & Cliffs’, he weaves a visual narrative into the mix with a profoundness and honesty that make repeat listens feel so much more rich and enticing. Each track feels like a snapshot of his journey across the island, capturing thoughts, musings and vistas, with the listener taken along each step of the way through its vibrant underbelly.
