Producer/DJ Andreas. is a record collector and employee of the Sydney based Something Else Records store. Being surrounded by endless crates of hazy house and subtle techno has provided him with a wealth of influences that he wields with precision. Leaning often towards the deep and dubby but always remaining forward and functional, Andrea's Djing is well rounded. For this podcast, he has delved into his record collection to deliver a special wax-only mix for your ears!

"I've always dug podcasts that you can put on and just forget that it's on. These usually end up being live recordings, but there are definitely dj's who can select music at home, and make it flow in the same way it would with a breathing audience in front of you. People like Carsten Jost and Yone-Ko consistently put out selections of music that could easily soundtrack a long drive, a rainy Sunday, or a club night, and that's essentially what I've gone for here."

Nightime Drama Podcast 019 - Andreas.

After a lengthy hiatus, we have released the 20th edition of our podcast series, featuring Nightime Drama’s, Trinity!

This one-hour mix encapsulates Trinity’s style of deep, hypnotic, hard techno, from a selection of both new and unreleased material.

Trinity is a DJ, live performer and producer based in Eora/Sydney.  Now celebrating her 20th year in the music industry, Trinity has earned the respect and love of fans, dancers and peers from Sydney to Berlin — and many destinations in between. Her abundant and diverse talents, her famous work ethic, and her uncompromising musical vision have made her a force to be reckoned with in the world of techno.

Trinity was billed alongside Richie Hawtin at the Vivid Sydney festival at Sydney Opera House; headlined Sydney’s world-famous Mardi Gras celebration; and has played at Tresor, Tomorrowland and many other clubs and festivals across Europe. Other stops on her musical travels have included New Zealand, India and Amsterdam’s famed Red Light Radio.

Each of Trinity’s live shows is marked by her unique versatility: from deep dub-techno, acid and electro to peak-time techno — all combining for a distinct and moving soundscape. Trinity is also one-half of boundary-breaking live act Phax Machine (along with partner Analogue Resistance), with the duo focusing especially on tougher breakbeat and classic rave sounds. 

Trinity’s recorded output includes collaborations with Luke Hess, Eric Cloutier, Headless Horseman and XDB, with her releases making their way into some of the best record shops in the world including Berlin’s Hard Wax. Trinity also runs A&R for the Australian techno label Nightime Drama.

After taking a break from DJing and performing during the pandemic to focus on running her business and parenting, Trinity is back — with a focus on quality over quantity and the same dedication and musical integrity as ever.

Embark on a sonic journey with Stroef, the label owner and producer hailing from Amsterdam. The roots of this musical odyssey trace back 23 years to a high school moment when the legendary Jeff Mills' 'I Love Techno 1999' set resonated through a Walkman, introducing a sound that felt both alien and captivating.

Delving deep into the realms of house and techno, Surgeon's groundbreaking 'Force + Form' album and the eclectic sets by Dylan Drazen played a pivotal role in shaping Stroef's musical identity. However, it was the underrated brilliance of Claude Young, showcased in tracks like 'Rise,' 'Mara,' and 'Samba,' that left an indelible mark on his production style.

Versatility is the heartbeat of Stroef's mixes and productions—whether crafting Detroit-styled mixes, dub excursions, or acid-infused journeys. Yet, at the core, Detroit techno remains the heartbeat of his artistic expression.

As the helmsman of Boomstraat 1818, Stroef enjoys the liberty of curating releases from artists he admires. From the immersive sounds of Kuba Sojka to the soulful depths of Taho, each release on the label echoes the warm vibes of Detroit techno.

Stefan Vincent, a musical mentor and longtime friend of Stroef, guided him to Nightime Drama through a podcast for the label. Vincent's technical prowess and collaborative efforts have left an indelible mark on Stroef.

This mix is a captivating fusion of early '90s gems, unreleased productions by Stroef on Diffuse Reality, an acid journey with the Devoran alter ego, and timeless classics from UR.

Indulge in the sonic palette carefully curated by Stroef, where each beat and rhythm tells a story of the rich tapestry of techno's evolution.

Alessio Capovilla (1985, Turin, Italy ) is an Italian composer interested in sound modelling, imperfect sounds, unpunctual distortion and unsuitable atmospheres are constantly researched by Alessio.

A dialogue between ancient tools and new technologies through synthesis, computer music and field recording, crossing beats and genres towards something not easily definable.

Co-founder of the collective Gang Of Ducks, on which he's published two releases ("NO" and "Eocity") under the moniker of XIII, alter-ego through which he mainly examines the most tactile and digital part of his sound.

In 2020 he collaborates with the performer and artist Anna Homler giving life to a record (Vasi Comunicanti) that has been released by Gang Of Ducks.

In the last year he also appeared on various compilation on Knekelhuis, Artetetra, Haunter and and signed an EP released for C2C Festival in collaboration with Stone Island called INVRS Solaria"

In November 2023 he released a new album “Permanent Rain” for the Dutch label Knekelhuis.

Since he was 14 Ishtadi embraced the yoga practice and later extensively travelled India, living with monks, nuns, siddhas, saddhus, yogis, musicians and a variety of therapists and healers. His mission is to transform these ancient experiences of knowledge into contemporary immersive culture.

Ishtadi interweaves sounds of nature to musical landscapes, combining field-recordings with electronic synthesis, organic rhythms and harmonies. Awakening the genetically imprinted being inside, inviting the body and mind to slow down, in order to dive deep - into the now.

Ishtadi is the founder of VibroAcoustics, Nature Tales, Ecstatic Dance Copenhagen, Nordic Ecstatic Dance Association, Cacao CPH and a variety of concert and party concepts.

In sanskrit, “Ishtadi” means purification of the senses - the prerequisite of being absorbed in presence.

Ishtadi - Sattvapatti 01

For our 5th Nightime Drama podcast we have selected Tel Aviv-based duo Deep'a & Biri, one of the most promising talents in techno right now. They came onto our radar with their recent ‘’GNZ11’ release on Luke Hess’s label, DeepLabs.  

Deep'a has played a significant role in re-building the techno and house scene in Tel Aviv. Hosting DJ’s at such as Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Juan Atkins and Robert Hood, to name a few. Biri is a young producer from Jerusalem who displays a versatility of sounds from techno, Chicago House and classic Detroit.

In 2013 the duo released their first album on DJ Hells Gigolo Records. Derrick May has been supporting Deep'a & Biri's music since 2014 signing them to his Transmat Booking agency with their release on Transmat Records in 2016 selling out within a week. Their more recent release 'Basic Cycle' EP sold out at Hardwax in less than 24 hours.

With their tracks currently being played and charted by some of the scene's most respected DJs, the industry is taking notice of Biri & Deepa's talent; the young Israeli artists are on their way to establish themselves as one of the main producers coming from the turbulent Israeli scene.

1) What is your home city and what makes it special?

Tel Aviv is normally very different from what you hear on the daily news, there is a mix of really amazing food, a lot of sun and very interesting art scene, nightlife and clubs are also strong but in the last few years, it’s really booming with interesting local artists and many different parties every weekend.  

2) The term DJ's DJ gets thrown around a lot these days, who is your DJ's DJ?

Easy to answer this one - Derrick May - definitely the best DJ we got to hear, we been huge fans since young age but the in the last few years we been travelling together and got the privilege to see how he play completely different each night and just naturally transforming the vibe he gets from the room into amazing music output. 

3) What first comes to mind when you think of electronic music in Australia?

Carmelo Bianchetti is the first name that comes to our mind when we think about electronic music in Australia. He did and still does some amazing and timeless music under different aliases (DJ HMC, Late Nite Tuff Guy). We are still playing some of his classics.

4) What has been the stand out track that you've playing this month?

We are currently playing a lot "Tin Man - Surfing Acid". It creates tension and drama on the dance floor and always sounds incredible. We are big fans of him

5) Tell us all about your next up-coming release

We have an EP coming on Balans Records runs by our friend Darko Esser with a remix from Yotam Avni another great producer coming out from Tel Aviv lately and few more goods coming on our label Black Crow Records later this year.

DemoDc would be best described as a story-teller. Channelling energy from the unknown, he mould's his stories into electronic music with a conscious effort to stabilise earth's imbalance.

For our 18th Nightime Drama podcast, we are proud to present Sydney based DJ/Producer and NTD resident Oscar.Mike

Oscar.Mike has been steadily carving out a name for himself over the last few years, having performed under a number of aliases drawing inspiration from a diverse range of sounds and genres.
