Citizens Of Vice racks up release number Thirty One and for this EP we have the Balearic kingpins 'Coyote' join us. Fans of the label will no doubt be fully aware of their DJ & Production skills, infamous record label 'Is It Balearic' and their immense back catalogue on labels such as 'International Feel', Claremont 56 and Nang.

'As The Crow Flies' is the release in question and features two new tracks 'As The Crow Flies' and 'Steely Dad'. Both tracks are sonic treasures that will be soundtracking many a beach bar & sunset over the coming months.

We are also super pleased to have two of our favourite producers on remix duties. Chris Coco & Secret Soul Society are the folk in question and both live up to expectations adding their own wonderful touches to the originals.

Citizens Of Vice racks up release number Thirty Two and for this EP we have the oh so excellent ‘Bonnie & Klein’. The greek duo will be familiar to fans of the label following a multitude of releases on like minded labels inc Music For Dreams, Leng and Nu Northern Soul.

‘Bourbon Street' is the release in question and features two new tracks ‘Bourbon Street' and 'Lobby Love'. Both tracks are beautifully constructed balearic delights. If you close your eyes and are of a certain age these could sonically transport you back to the late 80’s on a certain island.

On the remix front we have two of our favourite producers adding their own ideas to the OG’s. Coyote and Rayko who have both released and remixed on COV are back with their remix caps on and shake up the originals with their uniques flavours.

We can't tell you much about Pilots Of Peace except that they dropped one well-received Balearic EP on Citizens Of Vice just under a year ago, and now they're back with another. The EP opens with the blissed-out chug of 'You've Just Got To Let Go', with 'Got To Go Insane' continuing in a similar vein. 'Matsui Hi-Fi' then drops down into a deeper groove with clear nods to both acid house and Afro jazz - an unlikely combo that works surprisingly well - before a rework of Joe Simon's 'Carry Me' from 1974 plays us out on a more laidback soul tip.

Daggers 'Evergreen' // COV050 // March 15th 24

Citizens of Vice are usually very good at sharing info about their artists and releases, but thus far they've kept quiet about this one - a label debut from a previously unheard artist called Daggers. Title track 'Evergreen' naturally sets the tone, with the mystery outfit layering sparkling synth sounds, echoing lead lines, delay-laden hand percussion and drifting bleeps around a deep, dubby bassline and psychedelic nu-disco beats. Elsewhere, 'Space + Time' is a breathlessly brilliant, low-slung dark disco number rich in mind-manging motifs and heavy bass, while 'Nigel's Vitamins' is a TB-303 laden slab of neo-dub disco with added hallucinatory colour.

Bálint Forgács AKA BAL 5000 started out producing drum & bass, but that was a long time ago now. These days he's ploughing a much more eclectic and distinctive furrow that he rather eloquently describes as "retro-futuristic spaced-out house, mixed with lost in the desert psychedelia". In practice, that means 'The Lake' is an understated, unhurried affair sitting somewhere between Balearica, deep prog and downtempo electronica in its original form, before being given a couple of predictably fine dancefloor rerubs courtesy of Balearic disco don Pete 'Reverso 68' Herbert, while bonus cuts 'Untitled Acid' and 'Untitled Electro' shouldn't really need any further explanation!
