“Trudge” alludes to the weird disconnected-yet-superconnected reality that envelopes us all day, every day. We wade through a mire of strangely polished ‘normal’ on every social medium we consume, and then can’t work out why we feel so substandard all the time. We voraciously seek the positive feedback that is designed to suck us in and keep us coming back for more. We scroll, and scroll, and scroll, and scroll. What will it take for us to stop and look up? Or will we all slowly fall into the void?

Nights By The Fire is a collaboration between Ben Singer (@bensingermusic New Jersey, USA) and Sarah Golding (@voiceofgolding Melbourne, Australia). They’ve been writing together since 2017, at a somewhat staccato pace, punctuated by the tedium of ‘real’ jobs and life.
