SILKRL063 :: Nigel Good - One Minus Space

Nigel Good's latest contribution to our imprint, "One Minus Space," is the ebullient first single from his forthcoming "Nothing Out Here" artist album. Already pegged as one of the release highlights of 2014 on Silk's calendar, Nigel's album features a diverse collection of melodies and grooves. Yet, "One Minus Space" offers a fair representation of the overall uplifting flavor that imbues the entire album.

Already receiving a great response on YouTube via an early "teaser" video, this euphonious new cut begins with only a suspenseful lead chord progression and a delicate piano riff. An energetic progressive house rhythm emerges at the quarter turn, which leads the listener into the main break. All of the melodic elements, including the emotive piano chords, reach their full crescendo at this juncture, and newly added string effects are equally climactic. In the latter half of the track, Nigel spices up the soundscape with his signature vox stabs.

It’s with both happiness and sadness that we see this track coming with us on PHW as we bring back a collaboration on the label between the Dutch duo Roald Velden & Morrison Kiers. It’s always  great to have these friendly and great guys with us on the label. The track in itself is a dedication to Roalds mother that sadly passed away not to long ago. As the guys asked if we would help them to get this track out for them rather quickly, we of course arranged that as fast as we could.

The track is as you could expect a wonderful journey from the Dutch duo, as they bring on their heavy artillery of soundscapes, including those melodic elements we so often seek for. Beautiful melodies, great atmosphere and laid back textures is what you will get on this wonderful journey. We do believe there is someone with a big smile on her face if you’re looking up!
