Cicadas and tides at Goat Island; waves and caves in Achmelvich; muddy geysers in Rotorua; Tui birds in Auckland and crickets in Leigh. Living in a city, where all the green spaces are manicured or grazed, it's easy to loose touch of the cycles and processes of life, that you can't touch or see, but are an integral part of. I think listening, locally and globally, can help us to become better guardians. Here are some sounds, mostly from Leigh in Northern NZ, where I recently moved to from Glasgow.

With a background in woodwinds and interdisciplinary art, mudwoman is an artist, field recordist, and music producer based in the Netherlands. Moving fluidly between ambient, drone, techno, and coarse grit, mudwoman's compositions emerge as the sounding strata of what can be sensed most strongly when one lets the gaze soften, accepts the sediments that line one's teeth after a storm, and then tenderly dissolves into mutual mineral heritage.
