we faced the wicked dark,
melted her shadow, left our mark,
now we’re back to claim the spark—
the things we missed that leave us stark.

shine bright then vanish here;
in this place of smoke and air,
does Oz (even) care?

before they could see glinda they cleaned up nice
dorothy washed her face scarecrow shaped just right
tin woodman polished and lion shook his mane
ready for glinda they went to make their claim

glinda the good upon her ruby throne
with fire hair & calm blue stone eyes
listened to their tale full of magic & strife
"what do you want, child?" "i just want my life"

dorothy told her of kansas skies and storm
friends met on the road & a path well-worn
"i wish for home, where aunt em waits,"
and glinda smiled, knowing the girl’s fate

silver shoes—three steps—swift as the breeze
to carry her back, over deserts and seas
tap heels once, then twice, three winks of time
and dorothy would be in kansas so fine

she hugged the scarecrow, tin woodman too
the lion wept, his mane soaked through
"goodbye, my friends," she whispered so low
for her heart ached in the letting go

glinda waved from her ruby throne high
as dorothy rose, soaring through the sky
back to the farm, her wish finally met
the road behind her, she wouldn’t forget

glinda smiled, her task complete
the friends had all found their destined seats
each would rule, happy and proud
but for dorothy, kansas was her only vow
