Some producers manage to make many different styles of music that tie together through a shared sense of mood. Suzanne Kraft is one of those. Actually a man named Diego Herrera from Los Angeles, Kraft has excelled at ambient, slow motion house and Balearic drones in recent times. Releasing on Rush Hour, Gerd Jansen’s Running Back and the excellent Melody as Truth, there have also been dalliances with disco and deep house across a number of EPs and two full lengths. As able to layer up proper synth ballads as he is programme loveably lazy drums, Kraft’s mix for us excels at both. 

It is subtly propulsive mix that starts sun kissed and horizontal and slowly arouses your senses. Colourful disco, watery synth tracks, groove driven house and the odd Chicago classic all fly by over the course of sixty minutes, and with that we have a perfect peak into the shiny musical world of this real sonic craftsman.

It's hard to believe it's been three years since Flørist debuted his atmospheric, jubilant rhythms on the acclaimed EP, Phenomena. In that time he has honed his signature sound, releasing two more dance records featuring cheeky vocal samples, fluid synths and ecstatic percussion. Flørist's organic and optimistic approach also translates into his artwork and DJ sets, where he creates unexpected experiences through colorful collages of texture and sound. A mainstay in the Vancouver scene as a DJ, producer and graphic designer, with numerous artwork credits and a release on Pacific Rhythm, Flørist has also worked with the Glasgow label All Caps and Washington, DC label World Building. Despite just a few releases, Flørist has kept busy DJing internationally, where his imaginative sets meld deep house with folk, techno, trance, breakbeat, electro, experimental and beyond, for irresistible dance bliss. His Truancy Volume mix is no exception, in which Flørist touches on everything from Deep Dish to Roza Terenzi to A.T.R.O.X., for a stunning expedition of sound.

Dave Aju is an electronic music virtuoso, an ace on deck master-selector who has appeared in dance hotspots across the globe and a wizard inside the studio, with vocal aptitude to boot. But more than that, the native Californian is just a fascinating human overall, we could talk to him all day long. And, we did. As things started to look up on the West Coast, we caught up with Marc Barrite in sunny Los Angeles to talk about music, California, the pandemic, and a little bit of tech geek speak. Find out about his journey from a jazzy upbringing through the HipHop scene and into the global house music arena as well as the real scoop behind some of his work, the all-too-clever meaning of TXLAX and some exciting new projects on the horizon. Additionally the Circus Company and Mule Musiq-mainstay mixed and compiled the latest art:cast, an hour full of deep and experimental (electronic music) just like Mr. Dave Aju is known for.
