Brass Quintet No.1

“Antigravity Ponds” takes inspiration from the otherworldly reflections seen in the ponds on nature trails around Woodstock, Georgia. In daylight, the reflections in the water appear as portals to another world where trees, bushes, and other foliage float in an endless watery sky occasionally disturbed by the occasional droplet or skipped stone across its barrier.

This movement is based off of William Shakespeare's Sonnet 130.

Sonnet 130 was premiered on April 28th, 2025 at the University of Utah Composers Forum. The performers of the premiere were Kristen Olsen, Lauren Peck, Dallas Bitter, and Lydia Mitchell.
