if only I lied- this is a co write with my good friend Rachel- she suggested the chorus line and I felt it was a great opportunity to reflect on how often I get in the way of good relationships and friendships- my pride self-centredness keeps creeping in- and then regret comes and I can't go back. awkward for Song a Week 2019

my guitar needs a service so I hooked up my old midi keyboard- why did I take violin lessons- piano would have been more useful-
this song was inspired by a friends inst story post about how she felt awkward in a situation-and often does in so many situations- it resonated so thought id use the line this week

Some people have riches and treasures untold diamonds and rubies they’re dripping in Gold well I have the best thing it’s nothing too shabby 
I am a fully fledged September Baby 

I know you can’t choose when your birth month will fall and I had no say in it no not at all and yet I will celebrate and sing like crazy to celebrate being a September baby. 

I love it for so many reasons and more 
It’s spring here down under
For you tho it’s fall 
but whether its raining or windy  or hazy
I’m blessed to to born a September Baby. 

The birds in their branches are nesting and singing 
The garden is humming the spiders are spinning 
And I m like a hippy in sunshine and daisies 
It’s cool to be born a September Baby 

Tho Christmas is coming we’ve yet time to party 
The year is not over but far from just
Starting 
I’ve got time to chill out relax who can blame me
I’m  thankful for life as a September Baby. 

We can’t all be winners for other are born

She stopped and caught her dim reflection
As the train doors slid open
Leaving early from Turramurra to Town Hall  

Carefully she places 
The package on the seat beside her
A bulky frame tied up in string with faded vintage Christmas paper 

it was a work of art she’d always loved always known 
looking back over her life wondering what did it show

A rush of wind the open door now back in downtown Sydney
 Out of the station onto the city pavement the heat shimmering
Finally get this little job repair a much loved painting
 And see it hanging on her apartment wall the perfect installation

Old things like this- the memories flood back 
Like that trip she took overseas by herself to Paris

The tiny shop is filled with dust and faded fabric curtains
And pictures framed in gilded gold around landscapes amd mountains

The young man takes the Christmas gift and peels the paper back 
But she'd forgotten about the nightgown that she'd used to pad that precious pack

It was a work of art she’d always loved always known 
Looking back over her life what did it show

Blushing now she retrieves her gown and he offers up a joke
He checks the frame snd tells her when it will be ready and good to go 

Takes her name her number they both smile and she turns to leave
He looks her way and contmaplates the beauty he's just seen
