Cocoon Recordings welcomes Pele & Shawnecy for his Cocoon 12" debut. Without any doubt the Rosenheim resident is one of the fastest rising names in Germany. The bavarian tech-house-hero has built up an impressive reputation over the last two years. His driving and testosterone loaded productions and remixes can be found in many top notch dj-sets and charts. Pele is a master of kicking tech-house and his style of incorporating chords and vocals create real peaktime highlights. There is no escape when the sound of Pele kicks in on your PA system!

 

SHAWNECY native Persian, who shows musical fully controversial direction. Michael Jackson's hip, he sings and dances for various chart and show acts, and also working as a choreographer and dancer. Both together started to produce music end of 2010 when Shawnecy moved from FFM to Rosenheim.

 

Their first 12" for Cocoon Recordings is no exception here. With "Can't Wait" they deliver the next peaktime highlight just in time for this years summer season start. Merging house and techno this one should make fans of Harvey McKay, Santos and Guy Gerber happy which makes it a perfect release for us. The Flipside "Can't Leave" slows down a bit and looks more at the deeper side. While "Can't Wait" is a proper peaktime monster "Can't Leave" should work out great on the next afterhour and keeps the party going and going. The right sound to welcome the sun after a hot night... change your sneakers for flipflops and check your mirrorshades and let's start dancing to the beat and bassline of "Can't Wait".

 

The digital bonus track "You And Me" seems to be a dub version of "Can't Leave" at first glance. However the more you hear it to more it starts to progress into an unique and very hypnotic track. One of these tunes that don't let you leave the floor and you wish it would go on and on forever. "You And Me" would be a perfect track to make it into a locked groove at the end of your vinyl... well, if it wouldn't be digi only ;)

It's widely know that Gorge loves to work with different partners in his studio. Since his countless collaborations with Markus Homm and Nick Curly it was now the first time he sat down together with Marc Lenz for these 3 tracks.

'Moon Harbour makes a big signing for its next Release as former NBA player turned house aficionado Rony Seikaly steps up with Eskuche for 'Magic Nights,' and German mainstays Tube & Berger remix.
Seikaly has always had a passion for house music. But for many years, he was one of the first international born basketball players to make a mark on the NBA. The Lebanese American played for the likes of Orlando Magic and Miami Heat before retiring in 2000. Since then, he has established himself as a purveyor of quality house music on his own Stride label as well as Nervous Records and Yoshitoshi Recordings. Here he works with Eskuche, who is known for growling basslines and resonating drum patterns for the likes of Repopulate Mars and Elrow.

Their essential and mysterious 'Magic Nights' is deep but driving. The bass is elastic, and it booms down low while soft shakers and wet claps give the track height. Spooky whispered vocals make this one a tense, shadowy affair for the late-night hours and darkened dance floors. The remix comes from Tube & Berger, aka Arndt Roerig and Marko Vidovic, who for more than ten years have put out essential EPs, LPs and remixes on their own Kitball as well as on an array of other prestigious labels. Their version is dark and mysterious, with a warped vocal sample over the heavy, rolling bass locking you into a tight heads-down groove.

This is another fresh tune from the dream team pairing of Rony Seikaly and Eskuche.'

Joeski, also known as Joe Flores, was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens - a true New Yorker who grew up in and around the legendary New York house scene of the 90s. Joeski himself is woven into the narrative of that period, having been a founding member of the Chocolate Factory and performing at the Limelight and Tunnel, before his career went fully international. His recording career followed suit - a long list of seminal EPs stretch back to 2000.

Here, Joeski brings his considerable talents to Poker Flat Recordings, dropping the Lessons in Dub EP. Lead track 'Dub Music' is a throbbing example of the power of groove and dynamics- the rhythm is pure tough and funky New York house - while the expert use of reverb, echo and delay give the track its dubwise flavour.

Jamaican dub reggae production techniques have always been a key ingredient of dance music - the use of space and texture was essential to house music’s development - and 'What is Dub Love' further illustrates Joeski’s mastery of the form. The track rides a tight rhythm track, adding percussion and spacey sound effects through its stripped down groove.

'Roots' completes the trio on this release - another dubbed out basement rhythm track with a sick bassline that will cause mayhem on clued up dancefloors.

Born in Romania, and now living in Nurenberg, Homm is widely renowned for his perfectly crafted tech house bombs, released on labels such as Highgrade, Bondage and Bedrock. His first appearance on Poker Flat Recordings sees the acclaimed DJ producer in fine form - three tracks of jacking, effective house music.

'Don’t Let Go' showcases Homm’s grip on tension and release - a thick, deep groove underpinned by a luscious bassline and emotional pads, and propelled forward by tight drum programming and dubby percussion.

'Dance With Me' is a little tougher - fully nailing its colors to the dancefloor with a funky tech workout.

'Feel It' completes the trio - this time a stripped down, pure groove for the sweaty dancers - jacking, raw and highly uplifting.
