Previously uploaded a version of this track, but decided to have a bit of a rejig with the mix.

Recorded this piece using my Tama Artwood Maple 14 x 6.5 snare drum using cross sticking (with vic firth 7a's), Brushes (Vic firth again) and Promark Hot Rods.
I then used a 8" Djembe and added sub bass to try and drive the track a bit more.

Added in a few VST synths and away we go.

For this mix I have made the Djembe a little bit louder in the mix as I personally felt that it kind of got lost in the back ground.

What's in the Box?

A short piece that I created by using only a Bsus4 chord.
The main synth sounds were created in the ES2 synth in Logic, and the drums were then side chained into the Sculpture synth to give them a more surreal sound with a little bit of distortion and reverb added in.
I still want to add in a few audio samples and a bit more panning.

This is still an unfinished piece and has not had a final mix and master, but please feel free to offer any constructive criticisms and feedback on the track.

My first attempt at using more Orchestral MIDI instruments.
Please let me know what you think and where it could be improved.

I decided to use 2 cello's playing the same ostinato but in different octaves, then 3 viola's doing the same with a different ostinato.
Used a bit of panning and audio ducking on certain instruments (mainly the snares)
Percussion wise I have used 2 Snares Panned hard left and right with a very slight difference in tone (the panning is what helps with the ducking) playing the same marching style ostinato. This ostinato features 3 rudiments, Flam, double stroke roll, and Single stroke roll.
I used a normal kick drum sound and really enhanced the sound of the bottom end using EQ and reverb to give it a huge sound.

Flight of the Pigeon

This is a piece of been working on that revolves around using simple ostinatos on a few instruments.
I had alot of fun making this track as I got my old bass (Squier 5 string P bass) out for the first time in about 9 years.
I was going to edit out the sound of the fingers moving along the strings out a bit but decided to leave them in as it gave the track a more humanistic feel and also suited the track.
I tried to be quite gentle on the compression for the bass as i didn't want to squash the dynamic range too much so it still felt human.
I used Logics space designer to create the reverb effect which sounded like rain for one of the synths, so I recorded a few samples of rain and added these into the piece at the start and finish of the piece.

This was the first time I used Ozone 5 mastering plugin so feel free to give any helpful comments or criticisms on the track!

Quick ambient track I created to get used to using Logic again.

I've not used logic for the past 4 years as Protools was my main DAW
This was created using a midi keyboard, the logic drum sequencer and an audio sample from storage wars
