The Berlin connection Wolfgang Lohr and Wonkers strike back with Disconnect Me, a Deep Bass House driven track with a Tech House touch. Wonkers rock the crowd in the best clubs in the deep house stronghold Berlin like Ritter Butzke or Weekend, having already worked with KlangKuenstler and released on the Get Physical Music sub-label Kindisch, Superstar Recordings or Marlon Hoffstadt’s WellDone! Music. Wolfgang Lohr is known for various styles of music composed and arranged with detail and feeling home in Tech House, Deep House, House, Minimal and Electro Swing music, always tribal and bass oriented, which work like a blazing arrow on the dancefloor. Curry & Krawall (i.a. Moonbootique Records) deliever a massive remix which will make the floor literally shake from the 1st bar onwards and Relow & Gabriel Pivaro bring a funky side to the EP with a Jack-House/Bass-House/Garage blend with a contagious groove.

Being a production line of carefully crafted composition with a meticulous production standard, Calyx & Teebee have delivered yet again. And after dominating the Beatport Top 100 with their most recent single ‘A Day That Never Comes / Snakes & Ladders’, they won’t be applying the brakes anytime soon, especially in the lead up to their greatly anticipated second album on the Ram imprint.

Back on vocal duties, Calyx demonstrates the pair’s multi-dimensional approach to beat making. With plucky percussion relaying you through bouncing subs and a drivingly solid bassline, it defines their vast repertoire of style. They’re not scared to dip into unfamiliar territories, with Calyx’s cool vocals sitting on top of lulling guitar rhythms to provide the first part of a diverse and brilliantly crafted record. 

‘Sawn Off’ rolls out next; it’s a grittier track than its predecessor, with a conundrum of hi-hats and aggressive drum patterns. Pounding pads take you towards a colossal break, heighten by the effect of a cleverly placed sample. The track ricochets throughout, not losing momentum or impact, with an intricately weaved structure, one only achievable by a team who’ve been running the game for decades.  

With an album laying just out of reach, each single is bringing us closer and closer to the inevitable. All four tracks prove they’re still a formidable force to be reckoned with; this LP will only emphasise that fact.

"What You Do", is a fantastic piece of dance music, fusing Finnebassen's famous funk and organic beats with a super-catchy, upbeat vocal that will have you singing while you dance… long after the track has finished. The awesome breakdown throws in more elements that make the track complete and cement the feeling.  The B Side, "A Little Somethin Somethin" is the perfect compliment to the former, a soundtrack of deep thoughts and memories, filled with hazy pads, a silky percussion and a smooth baseline.

The remixes on the do incredible justice to the original mix of  "What You Do" and are greatly diverse in what they set out to achieve. Don’t expect dancefloor euphoria or big tunes but intelligent deep house and electronica. You can completely visualise their cool parties as this sets the mood pretty sharpish with the brilliantly deep opening track, Night Plane – ‘Angels of sin.’ The party continues with a few tempo and mood changes but always with an emphasis on quality stylish house grooves. Late night grooves to have your head nodding. Now to get an invite.... 9/10
