Nicky was born in Milan on March 15, 1986. Since he was a child he always showed a keen interest in music, in all of its styles, interest that will be a constant thorough his life, causing him to attend the course of science and technologies of musical communication at the state university in Milan. 

In the early '90s,when CDs weren't so ubiquitous, he enjoyed himself mixing tapes with his home Hi-Fi. 

Eventually he got his first mixer, 2 Gemini turntables and 2 drums, and things began to unfold. He started to buy vinyls, and to mix them, by way of trial and error, hour after hour, day after day.... 

After some years Nicky got a score of bookings in several discos in Milan, such as De Sade, Amnesia, and Punta dell'Est, Matrix (Brescia), Florida (Brescia), Mazoom (Brescia), Adrenaline and Exodus in Reggio Emilia and the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. 

His DJ sets climb up in a steady way, starting with lower BPM and then gearing up towards harder and faster tempos, an electronic crossover. 

As far as music goes, he's out of the main stream, he always plays what he likes more, blind to the charts, and looking instead for sounds and rhythms, that can be appreciated for all of their beauty. 

At the end of 2006 his alter ego "Subtractor" saw the light, by means of it Nicky starts to spin harder sounds, such as Jumpstyle, Hard-Jump, Hardstyle, Hardcore and Frenchcore. This new character will be his tough face, as well as a way to bring out new feeling and thinking, part of an hidden side, kept private until now. All of this shows off in new productions and much harder DJ set. Then he will use the name "Nicky Dj" for Jumpstyle and Hardstyle and "Subtractor" only for Hardcore and Frenchcore productions and sets. 

After a short time, this new project receives a lot of positive feedback, as much as he's given the Intro Resident DJ title on the Dorian Gray and Regiamania nights, nights in which he'll perform for two seasons, playing in clubs such as Adrenaline (Reggio Emilia), ECU (Rimini), Chic (Rimini) and Due (Vercelli). 

In 2007 he received a call from Sonic Solution Entertainment, a world renowned Hardcore organization, and with it, Nicky will enhance a tight collaboration, in order to develop and promote the Hardstyle sound in all of its events. 

A new season kicks off, seeing Nicky as Official Resident DJ in the new Hardstyle area of Florida Club (Brescia), in the Sonic Solution monthly parties, as well as in many other clubs, like Codice a Barre (Milan), Asia (Biella), ECU (Rimini), Altromondo Studio’s (Rimini), Chic (Rimini, Babylon (Rimini), Baia Imperiale (Rimini) and Number One (Brescia). 

On new year eve 2008, he's invited to play at the “Millenium”, a huge party in the fairy area in S Ancona. 

In March 2008, Nicky is given the title of Resident Hardstyle DJ in the Sunday afternoon parties at Number One Club, playing also on the special Easter party later in the month. 

In August 2008, thank to his collaboration with the Sonic Solution, end up playing at the first official Q-Dance party (the biggest and most famous harder styles music organization in the world) in Italy, held at the Altromondo Studio’s in Rimini and his name is displayed for the first time on the renowned website ww.qdance.it. 

After this, he will be confirmed as resident DJ for all next Q-DANCE IN ITALY parties, in collaboration with the biggest italian organizations. 

In 2010 he and his friend Amos have an idea and they start the WE LOVE HARDCORE project, which with the want to create a new, alternative and high quality Hard parties, and Nicky will be resident DJ too.

In 2016 he starts the new project Stern Jäger, with whom Nicky will return to softer and refined sounds, going from House to Techno contaminations.

In 2019 a new project named Nikolas Kowalski starts in the south of Italy and now is the one in use. With this alias Nicky is playing in the best clubs and festivals in the north Calabria.
